After this time I think there's no possibility to establish a pro west regime in Iran, even if the Islamic republic got overthrown. The only risk is the collapse of morale and national faith of Iranian ppl, just like what we Chinese ppl experienced after the first Sino-Japanese war and the collapse of Qing dynasty. You should read our history of “Century of Humiliation" and what we called "unprecedented Catalysm in three millania",to see how the once proud and powerful Celestial Empire fall into the abyss of self doubt even self hatred and crawled back to today's position. Then you can take some notes to revive the great persian civilization.
Very interesting. I should read up on Chinese history. Vaguely aware of it.
Relevant to this particular thread and similar topics: Any nation which decides to be a vassal state would pay a heavy price in the long term. All those Arab nations in Israel's proximity who are buying time for peace should know that they have an imperial, expansionist presence in their midst and that will limit the regional nations' growth and exploration rights etc. Same as with Pakistan: Should it accept the Indian hegemony, then Pakistan would be forever subjected to the Indian preference for trade, exploration rights, water usage etc etc. Human beings are predatory now as they were millions of years ago.
But for Iran... if they were genuinely, ideologically for the Palestinians then they should end that enterprise: If the rich Arab nations won't move an inch for their Palestinian brothers then Iran should just confine itself to its own border, better the lives of its citizens and forget about the rest.
