The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Iran's official IRNA news agency has confirmed that the commander of the IRGC's air force has been killed.

Brig-Gen Amir Ali Hajizadeh was appointed commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force by Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in October 2009.

Born in Tehran in 1962, Hajizadeh joined the IRGC in 1980, shortly after the start of the 1980–1988 Iran–Iraq War, and served as a sniper in various operations.

Following the war, he joined the IRGC Air Force and began working in the IRGC's missile development programme.

Later, in 2006, he was appointed commander of the IRGC Air Defence.

Hajizadeh was sanctioned by the US Treasury along with other IRGC commanders after Iran shot down a US surveillance drone near the Strait of Hormuz in June 2019.

After the downing of the Ukrainian airliner near Tehran in January 2020 by an IRGC missile, which killed all 176 people on board, Hajizadeh described the incident as an accident, took full responsibility, and stated that he would accept any punishment determined by the Iranian authorities.

Buddy it's not just the planes but also the skills of the pilot to utilise the jets to the fullest of potential, everyone was laughing at Chinese jets as inferior to western technology, but Pakistan has proved to the world how to defend your skies, sadly all the rest of Muslim nations don't possess the same skill set as Pakistani pilots.
Pakistani pilots are indeed highly skilled

but even Pakistani pilots won't achieve anything in 50 year old F-14 and F-4 jets against Israel's F-35s

Question is which country given them their airspace because Iran does not have land borders with Israel? How come Israel jet fighters pass through those countries and attacked Iran.

Syria iraq and that wretched maniac king from jordan gave the leeway

The real question is: why did this happen the way it did—especially when the warnings were clear for days?

Iran had time to prepare. This wasn’t a surprise attack. There were strong signals that an Israeli strike was coming.

So where was the defense? Iran claims to have good air defense systems. Yet critical locations were hit, and high-profile figures were killed. How did that happen? Iran also uses or mimics Chinese surveillance radar systems for air tracking and early warning—essential to missile defense etc.

Why were top commanders and nuclear scientists kept in known, centralized locations? Especially when Mossad is notorious for penetrating secure environments and feeding live intel to operational teams.

Was this failure due to poor preparation, intelligence lapses—or sheer underestimation of Israel's capability?
Several factors at play I assume. One such factor is Mossad having deep roots in Iran. Spies providing Intel was crucial IMO buy equally worrying was Iran getting caught unaware. This wasnt a surprise per se, but Israelis were swift to pounce.

So Iran wants its proxies to do the fighting against israel but when it comes to confronting the entity they are no where to be seen lol might as well disband the IRGC because it's whole damn purpose is to protect the mullahs. "don't pick a fight if you are not willing to fight"

100% brother, please don't mind what some Pakistani members here are saying. We are here because despite some acerbic comments, Iranians are our brothers and neighbours and we are hurting and share your pain. Our Dua's are with you, your sisters and mothers are our sisters and mothers, your brothers are our brothers.

Allah (SWT) protect Iran, her dignity, her pride and her people. Ameen.
