Its not a bad strategy. Many countries do this in tough wars. Pakistan evacuated its important planes to Iran too, in 1965 & 1971. This is why you build such alliances with countries around you, to have strategic depth.

Iran urgently requires air defense assistance from Russia. To adequately defend at least part of Tehran’s airspace, it needs a minimum of 5–6 LOMAD (Low to Medium Altitude Air Defense) and 3–4 HIMAD (High to Medium Altitude Air Defense) systems. Without this support, Iraninan regime is in grave danger , it doesnt matter how many BMs they have, they wont survive the massive onslaught. Would you go up against the USAF or IDF F-35’s? Operating out of ABs they obviously sharing with the USAF in the Sy-Raaq?

How would you exactly shoot down aero ballistic missiles with your AF?

Knowing aero ballistic missiles have that typical bell curve trajectory at Mach-2/3 depending on the type.

These are important questions no?

Maybe you are right, it's easy to retrospectively say this should be there and this should not but obviously there are huge constraints for iran


My point, in general, is this whole conflict right now ...in the hot phase ....seems to be structured around a finite supply of Iranian missiles versus full spectrum Western attack


The reality seems to be that Iran can cause significant nuisance, missiles and trade and oil disruption, but it cannot inflict defeat, but also it can face a defeat itself

If that was the intended strategy and equation, anyone could have predicted the result 10 or 15 years ago ... no nukes no worries

Yes exactly this, but also I don't think China will actively take on Israel like this.... My suspicion is they are too cautious to actively and unnecessarily incite USA

If the recent NY Times article about how Trump wants to carve up the world into 'three spheres of influence' has merits then maybe China is given the overlordship in Asia and western Pacific, in which case America, via Israel, controls West Asia / Middle East up to the western border of Pakistan. Pakistan is not in the Middle East. Iran is. Not a bad situation for Pakistan.
It is just an speculation though.
