Because Azerbijan "still has to live with Iran as a neighbour" once all is said and one. That is why you dont do moves like this, because you then have to deal with the consequences while the "Other" country retreats hundreds of miles away.

Common sense says that.

Hell, even the Indians had the common sense to not get involved with Israel to attack Pakistans nuclear plants for that same reason.

The problem child for Iran, is Iraq, and not Azerbijan.
 
Iran may have lost the chance for a Decisive Counterattack last night! Instead of 200 missiles on residential buildings they should have gone all out 2000+ missiles on all important Israeli nodes of economy and others, which is justified for the attempted assassinations of leaders of a Sovereign Nation! I don't understand why they are afraid of an escalation, how much more escalation do they need? They assassinated 20 of your top military leadership, and have complete aerial supremacy over you, at this point they're dancing over your corpse.
