Second.... Strategically yes the second carrier will be needed if Orange man bombs that Iranian underground nuke site because Iran will retaliate (rightfully so) and the counter retaliation will likely be huge. Also Iran may call the 1980's to bring back the good old tanker wars and close Hormuz. They still got their navy and plethora of cruise and anti-ship missiles.

A swarm of drones was launched by Iran around 3am local time so do you think we should be expecting ballistics in a few hours from now if they reach Israeli airspace? haven't seen any reports yet of them being shot down

If there is one word that describes China more than anything else, it is pragmatic.

China knows that it cannot match the US far away from home. China is ready to engage the US militarily in China's own neighborhood and it might even win a limited war there, but there is no way they will take on the US far from home.

It makes far more sense to have a PLAN base in Gwadar. It covers both India and the Persian Gulf and has a completely legitimate reason to protect CPEC and Chinese workers.
