There is a certain truth to her statement: You never fight directly with your enemy, but you have someone else fight for you.
The least you do is have a continuous supply chain of arms going, and have the opposing parties fight a bloody battle in a war of attrition, costing treasure and blood. You can't replace the able-bodied men while the treasure gets depleted just as quickly.
It's why I support the Russians in Ukraine. Now the question is, how will the U.S. or China get entangled in their meat grinder? The Russians missed their chance in Afghanistan and Iraq to grind the Americans down and have their revenge.
Almost nobody is suggesting that China would put troops in Iran. Most people are saying China should supply the latest tech to Iran and let them pull the trigger, but she is saying China will stick its head in the sand and ignore what is unfolding around the world. That's just silly.
