O-Bangali for us.
With reference to Goru'r Doodh and such-like.

Doesn't it bear an uncanny resemblance to ...

JUDEN ???

Makes sense, because only the Jews were around then ... the Middle Persian word referring to Jews, Christians and Muslims is very different.

Cheers, Doc

Well, the Nazis appropriated the Swastika.

Does there have to be something deeper?

Cheers, Doc

The Swastika is shared beyond just you and us.

Its pan Asia and Europe in fact.

Cheers, Doc

P.S. Shenaz is still showing her slightly gravity assisted middle aged wares on you tube.

that's how you do it:

Cute mouth. I think these are the travel videos I'm talking about.

But really, there are way prettier Parsi girls. She's more in the western teeny boppy mould. And short legs.

Cheers. Doc

I have not read the opening posts in detail unfortunately, but I guess naturally as a minority you learn how to survive in the context of a majority, Always finding that balance between being flexible enough but not too liberal or flexible to dilute the general community population, staying relevant enough to thrive and grow but not too irrelevant that you do not have the internal fortitude to propagate.

Do the parsis foresee any issues with hindutva or are the Muslims and Christian providing sufficient buffer?

The Muslims are on their own. There is no imaginary grouping with the Christians or any other group.

The Parsis are obviously with the Hindus. Always have been. For reasons too obvious to merit discussion.

Hindutva is for the Hindus to decide. That is where the numbers in a democracy are.

Cheers, Doc

Well that leaves no room for ambiguity!

I did not mean to say that Muslims and Christians are one group, but they do share a common identity/status as somewhat or very untrusted minorities! You may tell me I am also wrong in this!

No they do not. Christians are seen as a minor irritant. That too mainly in the south and the east. Thanks to their evangelistic activities. Of conversion for material gain.

The Muslims are not seen as minor or an irritant.

There is zero grouping, except in the minds of mainly Muslim sympathetic quarters, looking for such.

Frankly speaking, even the Christians go to great pains to dissociate themselves with any remote connection .

Next I suppose you will want to know about Dalits and other lower castes.

Again, largely the same answer.

There are lots of people in India who do not like the BJP and its brand of Hindutva.

But their numbers pale in front of those who do not like or are wary of Muslims, their way of life and their worldview towards different faiths.

Which is (largely) why the BJP keeps winning.

not many in circulation, Doc. Rare maal hai.

and then you know how us lot, all of us, get with women folk, spl where literal fortunes are involved (and may shift hands)

in one hilarious rare case but, which I was made aware of later.. Parsi girl wed into some srs Punjabi khandaan.. bride ke 3 bhai, all thought it would be a good idea to dress like sikhs and do a bhangra + funny skit...

it didn't go down very well with certain sword clenching elders of the strict order of Sikhs he belonged to but thankfully nothing untoward happened.

----------

Parsis overall but, Iranis hi ho.. is good very pretty genes, ekdum tichh maal. Even guys, as I'm sure the girls would argue.

We Parsis, happily, really are mad. Not sanki. Frank mad.

Late 80s (or early 90s maybe) ki kahani. Post Bluestar etc. Sab finally thanda.

This team of elite bawa cyclists, from Poona and Bombay, guys and girls, national heros, Asiad legends, you'll probably know the names, they go to Patiala for a national camp before the Asian games.

Accha, camp over, everyone has to return home. These johnnies decide to first go and page paro at Golden Temple, before their trains home (no fancy flying in those days, no sir, poor India).

At Golden Temple, they see Sardarjis being given swords. Pretty ornate ones. Bawas get horny. Humko bhi chahiye please!

Sardarjis give them the swords. Everyone maha chuffed and excited.

But bc how to carry full fugin swords in the train?!!! Lol Major brainstorming. Over lots of rum, through the night.

Finally sense prevails, and bawas and bawis forget their Persian genes and leave the swords in safekeeping with local friends. Great sadness and regret. To this day.

Cheers, Doc

Ulta hisab, Doc.

is the other way around.. padko kisi real ideologue ko kisi din and khul ke baat karo..

1 threat is Xtians and the Church with their massively funded and centralized system of converting the whole world.

Musalman broskis are absolute anadis with no central directives coming from one of the main foreign (which is to say, outside of India) places or anything...

gali cricket vs test cricket waali baat hai, doc.

rot's set it quite deep even, spl in some of our main centers of learning. I don't twitter surf or hearsay.. straight from horse's mouth waali baat hai.

anyway.. super huge topic.. I don't have either the wherewithal or the conviction to dig deeper.. its a mess. I fear the day it all comes to a head..

bagal waalon ka ho gya na, fauj vs awam scene

idhar bhi ready hai.. apna shakahari version.

terrible sorry for the incoherent post but samajhdar ko ishara kaafi. ;)

I dont know enough or close enough to say otherwise, except that Muslims are therefore widely seen as an alien people in India based on what you say!

I guess time will tell on whether Hindutva india only has an issue with its Muslim minority!
