America has spent the last 50 to 70 years with politicians devoted to corporations and war lobbies. So Mamdani advocating for spending resources on the weak and poor in society and raising them up is indeed a fresh approach. It will even help the mental health crisis in America.
I recommend doing some reading on LBJ's "Great War on Poverty".
War on drugs was as big a failure as war on poverty. Lessons can be learned for a better approach in the future, such as investing in people instead of just giving them checks every month. Why not try new approach? People are sick of politics that are donor based and donor focused.
Nothing is going to change because they don't want it to change.
