I think you totally misread me.
It was YOUR post which clearly implied that Pakistan shouldn't have natural resources because that would go nowhere. I countered that by saying that not all countries with natural resources fail like Nigeria and Venezuela.
Every country wants natural resources. Every country. Hard to even argue about that.

And I'm sure Pakistan's track record with what little has is a source of confidence.

The issue is not the reserves but are these the ones which PMIK was not allowed to announce during his PMship. There is no confusion that it was American companies which were working offshore back then. You are trying to equate yourself with the big boys like west and China who do these type of dealings. And on top of that, you have to be extremely dumb to believe that this type of ongoing transactions can be paid through backdoors!

The US Pakistan agreement is not going back to the 1950s completely in a strategic sense. Pakistan would be like Finland during the Cold War. It will develop into a prosperous liberal secular Western oriented state with an open economy but not opposed strategically to China like say the Philippines . Like Finland which had ( until 2022) deep ties with the Soviet Union (later Russia) in energy imports, Pakistan will remain an important trading partner and military ally of China. The USA as before would like Pakistan to be an intermediary with open channels of communication with China, the same as Finland was with the Soviet Union.
