Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Terrorism Watch

I mean, I think everyone in this thread is in unanimous agreement here that the state has always been an extremely incompetent and careless entity that at times did too little, nothing or, amplified self-destructive narratives. It has nurtured extremism and allowed problematic build up to go unchecked.

This is just one of the many outcomes of having a feudal state run entirely on the whims of some elite families disconnected from everything and more focused on personal lifestyle. They aren't fit to be managing a country. And the army generals themselves don't really have a real ideology when it comes to statecraft, or any clue what they are doing long-term.

It's more corrupt dudes winging it as they go along. No one in this wretched country has any clue.

We can all agree on this, Pakistan allowed a monstor to be created on its territory, allowed it to be active for decades, for many generations and now we want to destroy it. It will take 50 years to handle the situation, but ofcourse foreign elements are making it in to a challenge.

I always mentioned for 20 years, Pakistan must support a counter ideology to terrorism and extremism, these people mainly follow foreign ideologies which were pumped by petrodollars, and in Balochistan its ethnic secular militancy. Pakistan had the best ideology given by Allama Iqbal Rahimullah, so powerful that Muhammad Ali Jinnah followed it, we also have great Islamic history of Mughals and the 1000 years of islamic history, before that the Indus Valley but we fail to educate our people about it. India is successful pumping local ideology to their people but we instead go for Arab ideologies, the ideology that believes in arab nationalism, this is why militancy hates Pakistan history, islam, army, and wants to bomb everything, everything is alien to them and they don't care if Pakistan is divided in to 50 nations but those who know Pakistan, its identity, Allama Iqbal etc, they will never dream of harming Pakistan or its territory.

Btw, curfew isn't 72 hours straight. But from 11 am to 11 pm for three days in most areas and 72 hours in targeted areas.

I am not sure. The article said will start 11 am on august 11 and end on 11 am august 14. So that they can celebrate Pakistans I dependence day.

Many foreign agencies and countries are involved in spreading terrorism in Pakistan

I think it's time our Intelligence agencies also get involved. Ab to foreign Intelligence agencies ko hamara mulk home ground lagne laga hy.

A three-day curfew has been imposed in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Bajaur district with 27 areas locked down in Mamund tehsil and roads blocked for a targeted operation, authorities said on Monday.

All residents have been asked to stay indoors, with the authorities warning that curfew violations would be at the residents' own risk, according to a notification issued by the K-P government.

The district administration said the curfew in Mamund would remain in effect from 11am on August 11 till 11am on August 14.

Earlier, according to local sources, hundreds of families left the area, seeking safety in other parts of the district and beyond.

To accommodate them, district authorities vacated 107 public schools and colleges besides setting up a camp of 450 tents at Bajaur Sports Complex.

The district administration had also ordered the removal of maize crops planted within 100 metres of the roadside.

Farmers were given a three-day ultimatum to harvest their crops, with officials citing security considerations behind the directive.

Authorities said the measures were part of precautionary steps being taken as the situation remains volatile in the region.

On Friday, a Jirga in Bajaur comprising tribal elders and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), entered the seventh round of the Bajaur Peace Jirga, which concluded without a breakthrough, as negotiations hit deadlock on a key point of contention between the two parties.

Both sides raised objections to a particular clause under discussion, resulting in a stalemate.

Speaking to the media, Peace Jirga member Sahibzada Haroonur Rasheed confirmed the deadlock and said, "Efforts are underway to resolve the impasse. The Jirga remains committed to playing its role in maintaining peace in the region".

He urged both parties to exercise restraint and patience during the ongoing process.

"We have appealed to both sides to demonstrate tolerance. They have assured us that in the event of any conflict, civilians will not be harmed," he added.

Attacks in Bajaur

Attacks in Bajaur have increased sharply in recent months with locals objecting to operations by security officials harming civilians.

In February, a policeman guarding a polio vaccination team was shot dead after unidentified gunmen opened fire on him.

The attack occurred during an anti-polio campaign when unidentified assailants indiscriminately opened fire on the on-duty officer

In June, unidentified miscreants launched a rocket attack on the house of the minister of state on tribal affairs, Mubarak Zeb Khan. This was the second attack on him.

Earlier in May, alleged terrorists blew up the main gate of his house with an improvised explosive device (IED).

Last month, a bomb blast struck the Nawagai area of Bajaur, killing at least five people and injuring 16 others, according to local officials.

The explosion occurred on Nawagai road near Sadiqabad Phatak in Khar Tehsil, targeting a government vehicle.

The deceased include Assistant Commissioner Nawagai Faisal Ismail, Tehsildar Abdul Wakeel, Constable Zahid, and a passerby, Fazal Manan. Sub-Inspector Noor Hakeem, who was critically wounded in the attack, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Peshawar for medical treatment.

After a few days, Maulana Khan Zeb, former National Assembly candidate of the Awami National Party (ANP) from Bajaur, and two others were tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants at Shindai Mor, just a few steps from the headquarters of Khar Tehsil, K-P.

For me it gave me a glimpse of the scale. That its not a small isolated town. Its a vast area where people are politically aware and active. United in their problems and rally behind their leaders. That gave me a picture that things can be resolved here with dialog with their leaders. So even if curfew has to be placed, it should be announced via popular leaders of the area. So sentiments against center do not get ignited.
Dialogue to what end? They were the ones begging for state to enforce law and order when the Maulana kHanzeb was killed. Now you don't want law and order?

They were given time to negotiate with their militant cousin to leave the valley. They failed. What else can the state do?

After the 8 days of negotiations between the tribal elders and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the involvement of the provincial government, the final result is what should have happened to begin with - kinetic military operation.

From 11 am today (Monday), a curfew will be imposed in 27 areas of Bajaur and Mohmand Agencies. The challenge for the Pakistani security forces will the potential infiltration of additional TTP fighter from Kunar and Nangarhar provinces in Afghanistan, where the number of TTP fighters and camps could be leveraged.

The TTP has also proven to be deadly, whether to civilians or security forces, with drone technology, which is used to drop mortars on various locations.

The people of Bajaur and Mohmand have been asked to do the following:

1 - leave the area for the next 2-3 days
2 - if you cannot leave the area, shelter in place and keep your movement outside the home to a bare minimum

This is operation for you gentleman. What you wanted for long. Crops to be harvested early within 100 meter of roads. Curfew for 72 hours in one go. If someone is a daily wage worker and had to earn daily to feed his family, he is fcuked. You are also not supposed to fell ill in these 72 hours. Otherwise you are responsible for anything happening to you if you violated curfew.

To people like you, sitting in big cities of Islamabad, Peshawar, Pindi, Karachi, Lahore. This may seem a normal thing. Until someday a similar situation is forced upon you. Only then will you understand how it feels to feel helpless in such situations.

I am all for eliminating terrorism. But if our intelligence agencies are so incompetent that we need to surround whole cities , towns and districts for some terrorists, then why not disband these agencies if they can't even locate terrorists in a house in it's own land and. Jurisdiction ? IBOs should be the way. Not this shit.
People of Pakistan are also not serious in resolving their issues. Somehow they have this thought that military will 'save' them. Well then operation it is.....

The fact these jirgas exist in the first place shows that we are not a serious country.
Pakistan is a confused purposeless country with no direction run by feudal families and the knee-jerk military general trying to bring stability but without any real long-term purpose/vision. Hence it always ends up with a bigger problem down the line to deal with.

It seriously needs to introspect what the foundation or purpose of its existence is. Defending yourself against India isn't really a purpose while it's important.

This is a major reason that it's so unserious about countering terrorism and extremely divided, with policies continously shifting at the state level. Sometimes it has a Islamist extremist gimmick, sometimes liberal inclusivity gimmick, all fail.

I wish it was more like Turkey. Clearly defined direction. Aggressive in national security. Nationalist.

We both know the Pakistani state and military are too pussay to do that.

Nah man thats not true.

We as nation are too **** to see the military doing its job.

Let suppose the military goes hard agains these mfs, what do you think will happen? You've got practically all of your academia/intellectuals with left leaning views, who will justify TTPs existence and their actions.
