H-1B visas must end’: Wife of US citizen shares plight of landing IT jobs

@Distant_Observer

Indians could have developed a very strategic long term relationship with the US,

That is a privilege that I would much rather let Pakistan have, than us. The consequences of such "strategic long-term relationships" would be much more to your taste, than ours.

Regards

I like it how you Indians always play on both sides of the wicket. We will win either way and we never lose.

Of course India is set to lose.
Feelings don't change certain realities. Our growth is from the domestic consumption. I don't know why some people just refuse to believe what's already infront of them.

There is no point in chest thumping about billions of investments we recieve especially not in PDF. What's worse is your Iron brother would invest more in India if government just let them in. Their applications for investments and acquisition plans were getting scuttled simply because we have bad relationships. Lol!

I hear every argument. Nothing convincing enough for how it is bad. It is weird because the attention span of an outrage is shorter than the next big thing. Also what exactly is the outrage about? "Smart people are taking our jobs". The age old stupid argument of a loser who can't compete.
Well it's lasted more than six months, and to be honest I wish it ended too.

Trump still has popularity, and with tariffs and an attempt to end the Russia war his credibility is probably middling to good, this first 18 months is probably the tough period to force through huge changes whilst being popular enough

If you now imagine the tariff income starts to kick in, economic indictators uptick, illegal immigration declines and people are deported....maga will be vindicated

H1b could be a juicy target at some point

You are going to lose when Trump rolls back the H1-B visa program. India is extremely overpopulated and no matter how many jobs it creates, many Indians will always be left out. You need to export manpower abroad. India cannot accommodate the entire workforce. H1-B visas were an incredible source of income. H1-B visas provide high paying jobs.

To be fair India managed to take $200 billion through h1b remittances alone from the US since 2000 while Pakistan was running around in Afghanistan in the 80s for F16s :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

But your future development is from external cooperation and investment

Particularly in the military , air force.

You still need a credible modern air force to protect your economic interests.

A lot of people assume H1B is the cream and butter for us. But no, they are a talent drain we face especially American big corporations that poach people by offering positions. So this whole H1B outrage isn't going to get the effect many of you expect.

What I am saying is, we are going to win anyway you cut it.
Well I support your win.
H1Bs have to end immediately - All Indians on H1Bs lose their jobs asap and go back and if they had kids here those kids need their citizenship stripped as well.

You can't strip an American born citizen of their citizenship?

That went tangential. Huh???

Yeah it will be a big loss for some American companies too. But hey they can always set up shop here. There is no tariffs on communication.

H-1B visa program, which allows US employers to hire foreign professionals in specialised fields, is under scrutiny as debates about its impact on American workers intensify on social media.

Many US citizens, especially in fields like software engineering, are expressing concerns that the program puts them at a disadvantage in securing jobs.

One such voice comes from the wife of a US citizen and software professional, who shares the difficulties her husband has faced in finding work, despite his 30 years of experience.

She explained the over-reliance on H-1B visa holders in the tech industry has made it harder for qualified American workers to land jobs.

Her husband has spent over a year going through multiple interviews each week, only to face rejection, often due to the preference given to foreign workers under the H-1B program.

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to hire foreign professionals with specialized knowledge, typically requiring at least a bachelor’s degree.

Sponsored by employers, the visa is initially valid for three years and can be extended, with visa holders also able to pursue permanent residency through its dual intent provision.

What does the tweet explain?

An experienced US software engineer’s wife opened up about her husband’s harrowing job search over the past year, exposing what she sees as a flawed hiring process that works against American workers.

The US-citizen software engineer has been waiting for a job offer despite going to several interviews each week, and his wife is complaining about what he sees as a “biased and faulty hiring process.”

She wrote on X, “My husband is a US citizen, software engineer with about 30 years of experience. He was unemployed for over a year. In that time he had multiple interviews every week, but no job offers. He was given “tests” that he didn’t “quite” pass.”

The tweet added, “He wrote code as part of the interview and then it was nitpicked because it wasn’t the way the interviewer would have done it. The process is a scam. HR and interviewers are gatekeepers. H1B visas need to be ended and only American citizens should be in charge of hiring decisions.”

‘These interviews are just useless’

Netizens posted their concerns and experience on the post. A user noted, “Yes, you are right, the interviews are just for show, they want to show that they are unable to find enough qualified people, get approved to bring more people from India. Ive known of cases where an American is fired, replaced by a less qualified person from India, people fired are in many cases still in touch with coworkers who can easily determine if the replacement is better qualified or not.”

They further added, “In many cases the IT manager and even the CEO are from india, now, how much money are those people getting from India or from the agencies that bring the workers? The entire thing is a big scam played at the expense of Americans.”

Another claimed, “Every US Citizen in tech should go to https://jobs.now and apply for every job in their specialty. Then, when no call backs or passed over, they should file a complaint with DOJ about that company excluding American workers. Start the avalanche now.”

A user stated, “If the recruiter or hiring manager is Indian there is zero chance for Americans. Zero chance.”

“I don’t want to offend but it’s probable your husband didn’t grow his talent stack over those 30 years and that’s why he was let go and also doesn’t have the skills to compete in the modern era of software engineering. Like I said, not to be cruel, but declaring that Americans on balance should be poorer because your husband made poor career choices doesn’t make you the good guy,” added another.

H1B is the LARGEST fraud and human trafficking network. Indians have created or bought human resource companies. These organizations work with client companies executives usually also Indian and there are illegal benefits shared. A company open a job post, the recruiting partner finds "candidates" as a third party and usually the Indian person inside the company already knows who he will hire. Because through his Indian network, either someone is already identified and sent to the recruiting company, or, out of the selected pool, an Indian person is given preference.

Rest of the interviews by locals is just a formality to do legal paper work that "we interviewed so many people and picked the right candidate". When it's far from the truth. Candidates aren't the best by any means. They are Indian for sure!

jobs obviously for $$$... well paid by resident indians

gov. also wants it to happen to exploit local white population

no body is saint

Americans are deprived of jobs. They can do these H1-B jobs much better.
H1B is not cheaper than American quite the opposite and wonder why they hire people? How can Americans fill a job that was put in place because there was no one to take that job in the first place .
