IMO the Pak policy towatd Bharat is like cutting the hands of the octopus one by one. Some examples:
- Go after Bharati proxy terrorists inside Afganistan while engaging the latter into CPEC via China
- Lure the USA with minerals, crypto, shale gas, connectivity to the CA etc.
- Put the KSA/GCC under a defense pact to deter Israil
- Deter Bharat with a conventional and strategic superiority
- Build a close tie with BD, SL, Maldives, Nepal etc.
- Etc.

We just need to make an enemy by banking on the pact. We tried 65 and suffered in 71 due to our belief in these pacts.

So, punching more than our height, may backfire as when the time comes, there will be no backing. So, we just tone down where we can and make fewer enemies.

Correct, Infact this is just optics. Why should Pakistanis take this seriously

• This is a great opportunity for Pakistan, KSA and the wider region

Shouldn't Pakistan be more concerned to secure its own "narrower region" ? How does this treaty secure Pakistan's own security which a seven times superior enemy attempted to deliver a devastating blow on May 7th to 10th.

• The Pakistani military will need to expand & adapt to be ready for it's new role

What is the "new role" ? Isn't the prime goal of the Pakistani military the safeguarding of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan?

• The establishment should use this as an opportunity to fix our economy and build deeper ties with other Gulf countries

How does a Defense Treaty ( purely military in nature) help fix Pakistan's economy? What investments or employment generation happens as a consequence of this Mutual Defense treaty ?

Saudi Arabia was already under Pakistan's nuclear umbrella since 11 April 2015. Pakistani Parliament had voted to stay out the Yemen War but agreed to defend Saudia Arabia if it faced invasion.

That was one sided back then and Pakistan would have only intervened militarily if Saudi territory was invaded, but now it's mutual which means any big or small attack on either country would be considered an act of aggression against the both.

Anyone looking to test this resolve?

I have read all 40 - pages and I have to say I am disappointed with responses from most Pakistani members. I have utmost regards for everyone but honestly why post immature, emotional, childish posts?

Secondly, I request the Mods to ban Indian panjeets from this thread. These 2-cent scammers are trying to derail this thread. Please ban them.

Now my 2-cents on why all this has happened.

-Firstly, this World we live in, always respects the Victor and the powerful. This has been throughout history. So What I mean by this is that Pakistan Airforce annihilated IAF in May. The number of jets Destroyed and damaged is far greater than what is being reported. The destruction of IAF was so major that IAF had to GROUND its entire fleet to SAVE IAF.

- This destruction of a major power India like this established Pakistan as a powerful force capable of defeating countries much bigger than itself. We are talking about a serious military power equipped with nukes. All current major powers KNOW THIS. Except for the illiterate idiots in Pakistan whose IQ levels are below that of a Frog.

-Saudia Arabia and other Gulf countries had fallen for the tricks and scams of the Indians. They started to believe that India was a superpower or about to become one. Not only the GUlf Countries, all European countries and US thought this exact thing. The May war opened their eyes. And everyone is scrambling to come to terms with the new reality.

-The Saudis have seen enough specially after Omar attacks - they know that they are NOT safe anymore. They know that they DO NOT have the cababilities to deal enemies in Gulf specially Israel. Few years ago Sauidis invested in military capabilities of Egypt. But Saudis know even Egyptians are USELESS cause their Western weapons are useless. But their know with Pakistan's capabilities, they will get vital protection.

-Pakistan knows that the terrorism in Pakistan has one key supporter - Israel !! Yes people just do not get it that Israel is heavily involved in terrorism inside Pakistan. So now Pakistan will go to the door step of Israel - Israel will get taste of its medicine very soon. Watch this space.

-All these strategic moves have backing of China. So very soon you will see induction of latest Chinese weapons, including J-35s, HQ-19 and so forth.

All I would I say, Israel made some fatal errors. It is about to witness an angry Pakistan on its doorsteps !!

I do have my suspicions with the Najdi (Riyadh) Arabs.

This Alliance is good only if it covers all Muslim/Arab states. Otherwise we'll be defending a regime that MAY be protecting Zionist interests in the region

the establishment wouldnt be stupid enough to get inolved in a fight against yemenis. Also the saudis dont really need our help in their proxy war in yemen. Thier entire millitary is oriented for that purpose along with support from the americans. practically they have no detterance against israel again due to the reason that their american weapons are oriented in the south against a fellow Muslim nation and now the saudi regime atleast needs some detterance against Israel which will we fullfiled by this pact. Rest the only way Saudis could help us against India would be funds to prop up our millitary AND THAT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH.

Some thoughts

SA has been wanting a security defence pact with the US, but that seems to link with recognising Israel. The news was that this treaty has been in the works for a few years which means SA kept a plan b running in parralell and have a more diversified strategy.

Kind of reminds me of how Iran is set up today with the Artesh and IRGC. Current SA forces have allot of US equipment which against an Israeli threat could be useless.

So setting up structure to take in indigenous or friendly equipment (from China) is a good insurance policy.

Like PAF setup this fully network centric infra such as with link17 and radars and use of airborne assets SA could go down same route.

From a Pak perspective you dont really need Saudi weapons to help in a war v India, what you want is funds to raise extra divisions and squadrons and large quantity of missiles so they can sufficiently defend Pak and SA. What you want is strong economic tools and diplomatic ability to pressure India to stop any aggression. This is a win win if it happens.

Maybe this is also an opportunity for greater defence research and development cooperation like on Paks own FX ptogramme. We heard about how the Saudis were interested in KAAN, Pak is as well so this could help in aligning future procurement. I would also like to see J35 in Pak and SA colours.

Finally one can not forget one key thing. The GCC and SA are trying to create a safe stable environment for post oil world, they want investment and development. If they can't show they can defend theirselves it can have a long term detrimental effect.

Saudis need to understand that any Israeli attack and Pakistan helping them will leave Pakistan exposed to India and possibly even thgat may be a joint Israeli-Indian plan.
One attacks Saudi and the other attacks Pakistan as it goes to help Saudi.

Pakistan needs a large arsenal of hypersonic missiles. Iran showed what those missiles could do but unlike Iran, Pakistan has powerful external help and no sanctions.
