HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

This is becoming an annual ritual on PDF.

Indians jumping up and down on delivery news, deadline passing, Indians going quiet.

Ever year same...
Its a serious curiosity. They do have 'at least' two engines available and handful of supposedly finished/completed airframes. They could at least role out couple of jets for the IAF to train on until more can be delivered. There are no reports of any customer acceptance flights (at least I haven't seen any), which should be happening already if 1 Nov date is set on stone.

Engine issue was a cover.

As I said (actually this time last year), project will die in 2026.

This thing is done, even if deliviries start next year, IAF do not want a plane delivered from a factory that is basically obsolete the moment in arrives.

Its a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation with Tejas. Its not just the Tejas but whole network of systems and weapons have been created for the aircraft. If the project gets canceled then the future of these items - such as Astra - also becomes questionable. DRDO/HAL will not let it die that easily. I suspect the completed airframes will be forced inducted regardless of failure or success. However, its best not to underestimate them. 2026 could also be a success story even if they don't make it in 2025.

Nah, every time I underestimate them, they still fauil.

Start of this year read all their chest thumping posts. Now not a single delivery. Will be 4 years now.

Indian air frame
US engine
Israeli radar
Russian missiles
HAL overseeing it all

Politically no one had the guts to shoot this dying horse in the head and lesson ot's suffering

How is Tejas obselete
Versis
Mirage 5
F7
F16 mlu/52

J10c maybe obselete already

But everything else
Its fine
Now if you replace those 300 planes in decade with J10c and J35 only then yes Yasser I agree obselete is correct

I won't compare Chinease air power they are usa level now

So, role out flight on 17th (tomorrow)? Usually the first aircraft of new type/variant/block is considered as prototype. Unsure what this one would be. If IAF follows global standards, which I believe it does (it is a professional force no matter the pun) then I expect it to conduct customer acceptance flight followed by acceptance, if satisfied. Don't know when the latter two would happen but fingers crossed for 17th. If that happens, someone tag me to the news. I would genuinely like to congratulate Indian members here. Although destination still feels faraway, it will nevertheless be a milestone.

Here LSP series are on trial flights since last few years. So Prototype is not required.
Also there is no basic structural difference MK1 and MK1A. So those steps can be bypassed.

The idiot cannot realise. Need to compare Tejas MK1 with what is rolling off production lines next year.

Bit like USAF comparing F-35 tp F-16C just becasue they have F-16 in their fleet.

Even on paper, compared to other types being made, the plane is obsolete

The F16/52 is inferior radar IE non Aesa
It's radar cross section. Is double that of Tejas
It carrys old engines and weapons three decades old ...

That's why the block 70 came you have four decades old falcons

comparing a flying jet that is battle tested with a jet that hasn't even been delivered .
