I remember last time when I tried to visit IDEAS at Karachi expo. I got the passes online through their website. Got it for the last day because the first few days are reserved for VIPs and those having contacts up high. Anyways on the last day when I went for entry, first of all there was a lot of crowd waiting outside and the gates were closed without letting anyone entry due to some VIPs. Well when I asked around, I got to know that I needed another pass which was issued in another building across the road. Now the whole area is already cordoned off of traffic and you can't drive except you guessed it if you are a VIP.

In short my experience was bad, there is no easy access for civilians and the entry process along with passes is convoluted and confusing - why offer online passes when you need to get entry verification and ID from somewhere else? Only if you are a VIP or have high level contacts or from the media, then you can gain access easily and enjoy.

If you think that's bad, wait till you hear this. Everytime IDEAS is held, that area is basically sealed off, those who live inside are cut off from the rest of the Karachi, nobody goes in or can come out and if you actually need to due to work reasons, that's another story of issues. One of my Mu Bolay Mamu's used to live there few years back and in his own words, IDEAS was hell. As for what you described, no surprise on that part.
 
Actually war was a good reason to do the EXPO. Now more and more countries are interested in defense products. Countries have increased their defence budgets. We cancelled as if we ourselves in a war lol.

university road during normal days was hell, i had the misfortune of having to through uni road during PIMEC. Hell.

No clue why IDEAS isnt held in Islamabad tbh

You could write an essay just on Point #1.

The only thing they could do to make it worse - is by moving it to Saddar.

Point #4 is some-what connected to Point #1.

ISB Airport is Big. It really isn't getting much Air Traffic. City doesn't have much traffic - or atleast that is what I recall from my last trip.

I think we have good products, but marketing sucks.

For decades I have been attending the DxB Air Show & the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex/PAF Pavillion seems to be stuck in the 90's (literally).

This is 1 of our main problems, the world has moved on and yet here we are still stuck like it's the 90's. PAC dreams about doing huge projects like making 5th gen fighters and stuff while doing little to nothing to achieve that. I know I sound like some random hater but in reality I am just tired of seeing huge promises with little/lack of progress. I want to see PAC and other organizations doing well but for that to happen, they need to come out of the old mentality.

Yaar..., MQM can take a lot of credit for the other b.s they pulled, but I'm not gonna blame them for KHI's entire infrastructure. Their tenure was short-lived.

PPP has been around pretty much - forever.

I mean, just look at the location of the EXPO.

Is ke karnamay dekhne ke bad dil chahta hai k me chand pe chala jaon, just so I don't have to see them. Seriously, I am fed up with PPP.
