SARAI ALAMGIR: A 14-year-old girl gunned down his sister following a quarrel while filming a video for popular video-sharing platform TikTok in Sarai Alamgir town located in Punjab’s Gujrat district, ARY News reported on Saturday.

According to details, the incident took place when a quarrel broke out between the two sisters – Saba Afzal and Maria Afzal – while filming a video for the social media platofrom.

Following the heated argument, 14-year-old Saba Afzal gunned down his sister. A case has been registered against the suspect on complaint of his brother with Saddar Police Station.

Earlier in Dec, three youngsters lost their lives while filming a video for popular video-sharing platform TikTok near Sheikhupura district.

The deceased, residents of Khanqah Dogran city in Safdarabad Tehsil, were riding a motorcycle while filming a video for TikTok.

Due to distraction, the motorcycle collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the killing of the three youngsters.

Social media needs to be controlled
It's a way for the worst of the world to Influence the youth of a society

With internet widespread, even at the village level you have youth who suddenly have access to the world's debauchery and can even connect with people across the world

This crap will seep into the next generation unless it's clearly controlled and confronted

It's interesting that's whilst tik tok.is a Chinese platform, it's quite regulated inside China

So they let the western kids go down the hole whilst protecting Chinese society to some extent

Social Media is a cancer. But you know what our elite are talking about these days on morning programs? The TV time dedicated to talk to parents moms and dads about social issues? They were discussing FRENCH TOAST and how it is hard to find imported maple syrup in Pakistan :ROFLMAO: :rolleyes:

What a ridiculous thing to happen.

We're all talking about social media - what about gun safety?

Social media on the whole has been negative. What a tragic death, that poor girl. May Allah give comfort to the parents.

Sir this is the problem more needs to be done to educate parents and children about the issues surrounding social media. I can well imagine a lot of our children and young adults are exposed to a myriad of issues online which will impact them offline for years to come.

It is one of the major reasons I don't have an active SM profile anymore, especially cesspits like TikTok which is pure trash. Especially in Pakistan. Another cancer which is ruining young lives is the curse that is PUBG.

Why are you blaming video games like PUBG for this? So many research papers have proven that video games don't induce violence. Also, you can't blame a platform for the fault of one individual user of that platform just like you can't ban people's access to the internet due to the existence of porn sites. Social media is being used as a scapegoat to gloss over the problamtic upbringing of these children.

Not so long ago we were consuming media through TV and radio. That was our means of information. We weren't hooked 24/7 like we are today with mobile phones and computers. It went all too fast. Without even realising the impact and implications. Now with the rise of social media, every Tom, Dick and Harry has become an influencer. One can expect all sorts of extremes.

This is the thing. TV, radio and print media had quite stringent controls and regulatory bodies which monitored content, which on the whole didn't hurt society. With the dawn of social media every wretch who has the ability to put out content is doing so.

Now who is at fault for not instilling discipline in these children? In fact, these parents themselves lack discipline. You can't blame social media for people's lack of discipline.

I concur with this point of view.

Yes the research does not support the much hyped video game violence translates to real-life violence link. COD, Battlefield heck even GTA have been going on for years without any linked to an incident.
