A Bangladeshi teen was shot dead and two others were injured by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members along the Kantivita border in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon early on Monday
The deceased was Jayanta Kumar Singh, 15.
The incident happened near BGB main pillar 393 under Dhontola union in the upazila.
The injured are Mohadeb Kumar, a resident of Belpukur village, and Bangtu Mohammad, a resident of Nitaldoba village – both from the same upazila and undergoing treatment at a clinic in Rangpur.
Baliadangi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Kabir said the BSF has the body.
“The reason for their presence at the border area is unknown right now.”
BGB Thakurgaon Battalion (50 BGB) Commander Lt Col Md Tanjir Ahmed said: "I have heard about the incident. We are investigating the matter.”
This shooting death follows a similar one on September 1, when Swarna Das, 16, was fatally by BSF gunfire at the Kulaura border in Moulvibazar.
After about 45 hours, the BSF handed over her body to Bangladeshi authorities through the Chatlapur checkpoint on September 3.
