Five terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general Mashkai area of Balochistan’s Awaran district, the military’s media affairs wing said on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted the IBO on the night of Dec 30 and Dec 31 over the reported presence of terrorists.

“During the conduct of the operation, after intense fire exchange between own troops and the terrorists, five terrorists were sent to hell,” it said.

The terrorists’ hideout was also busted and a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was recovered, the ISPR said, adding that a sanitisation operation was being carried out to eliminate other terrorists in the area.

Sub Inspector Abdul Haleem sustained injuries in an attack at the main Nawa Killi Bypass in Quetta.
- The officer, who was stationed at PTC Quetta, was targeted while returning home.

The funeral prayer was performed in the native areas

Nine people, including a traffic policeman and three children, were injured in a blast on Quetta’s Zarghoon Road on Wednesday, according to police.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operation Jawad Tariq confirmed the number of injured to Dawn.com. He said that explosive material was planted in a heap of trash that had been lying for some time.

The explosion occurred when children, who were picking trash, were sifting through the garbage, he said.

It was unclear what kind of explosive device was used, Tariq said. “The explosion was not a security lapse,” he asserted.

A policeman was martyred in an armed attack on the office of the regional election commissioner in Balochistan’s Turbat on Thursday, according to police.

Kech Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Zia Mandokhel told Dawn.com that unknown assailants attempted to enter the office in the Zaraat area.

He said that an exchange of fire ensued, which resulted in the death of a policeman. He identified the martyred official as Namrooz, adding that the assailants fled the scene.

Mandokhel said law enforcement personnel were currently present on-site and were also conducting an investigation into the incident.
