Somalia doesn't have coast guard. Hence, IN had to go there and help.

Scope of the responsibility.
Territorial waters for coast guard vs high seas / foreign waters for navy.

And for the same reason as many other nations have deployed their Navy and not coast guard in the region.

With over fifty major warships and subs expect the west to lean on India a lot more to prevent piracy

Our navy is self sufficient even on the verge of carrier based late fourth gen fighters
