The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday night sealed the PTI Central Secretariat located in Sector G-84 of the federal capital for violating building by-laws as part of its crackdown on illegal constructions and encroachments.

The illegal constructions at the PTI Secretariat were demolished with a heavy contingent of police present outside its premises.

An additional floor was also constructed on the plot in violation of the building by-laws. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also rushed to the scene.

The operation led to a confrontation between PTI activists and the police. PTI Islamabad President Aamir Mughal was arrested during the clash.

According to a statement issued by the CDA, the operation, which was conducted in collaboration with the district administration, involved anti-encroachment teams equipped with heavy machinery deployed at the site.

It added that the plot in question was allotted to an individual named Sartaj Ali.

“However, violations of building by-laws, including the construction of an additional floor, were noted. The political party had also reportedly encroached on the adjacent land.”

The statement continued that the CDA had issued several warnings and notices to the plot owner over the past few years. “Notices were sent on November 19, 2020, February 22, 2021, and June 14, 2022, followed by a show-cause notice on September 4, 2023. Despite these warnings, compliance was not achieved, prompting the CDA to issue a sealing order on May 10, 2024.”

They did an operation in the middle of the night despite serving no notice. They were told by PTI officials that they are against encroachments too and just hand us a copy of the notice and we will demolish any structure in violation of the code ourselves, they still put up a show. Now having done that, I'd wait for the day when all the other respective city officials will take action against DHA for buying land illegally and at dirt cheap prices across Pakistan, such as land bought at 10,000Rs per acre from Sindh government to build DHA where as Malik Riaz got the same land for 100,000Rs per acre and was fined by the supreme court and forced to pay huge fines.
