Bangladesh PM to visit Malaysia, China on first foreign tour

What does it mean?

China’s offer is on the table. They have already committed to providing all the support needed to implement the project.

Why not just sign the agreement and complete the project? At this rate, I'll leave this world and Bangladesh will still be talking about implementing the Teesta project. Frankly, people in Bangladesh are tired of this nonsense.

Let's hope we get news of MRSAM and J10 deals out of this trip, in addition to Teesta Barrage.

Yeah the Chinese offer is on the table. Bangladesh government needs to stop delaying and get their help to get the Teesta Barrage up and running despite the Indian displeasure.

China is looking for strategic partners and expects Bangladesh’s full commitment to its B & R initiative. Bangladesh’s decision makers are slow and coward in nature.

TR/BNP will receive cold shoulder response from china like Hasina if they show weakness in decision making.

I think Tareq is in right track. He sought support from China on Teesta and agreed to a 13 point MOU. Refer to the Print Article I posted in the previous page. It gives more details on the points in the MoU.

This relates to re-affirming One China policy. Not sure where you are seeing desperation in this.

It doesn't cost Bangladesh anything to say Taiwan is part of China. In return for billions of dollars in investment, and military, technical support from a trusted friend. Bangladesh position has always been to support One China stance.

Even your beloved Hasina did not dare angering China by deviating from supporting the One China policy.

1. It is related to Japan, not Taiwan
2. Hasina did not deviate from One China policy

While you're going to get loads of lolipops from China, Japan remains BD's largest creditor.

That specific paragraph condemns Japans rearmament and posture towards China.
.
Hopefully China makes this diplomatic chaos worth our energy. Although projects with Japanese finance has already became unaffordable for us. Dhaka Metro extension is a prime example...

1. I stand corrected in that case.

2. You are just reiterating what I just said. Read my post again.

Japan being Bangladesh's largest creditor is beneficial to both parties. It's not charity. Bangladesh got the money for the infrastructure projects and Japan got to invest it at a higher rate of return, when considering they had a negative interest rate for years.

Even though Japan has been a long term friend to Bangladesh, China is in our neighborhood. Not only are the Chinese are important investors, they are critical to our national defence, since majority of our systems are Chinese and will continue to be in the near future.

If Bangladesh has to choose between the two going forward, the choice is very simple when you take all factors in consideration. I support the move to agree to this.
