Chinese SAC - FC-31/J-35 5th Gen Stealth Aircraft

According to some rumours, if true some good news so close to year's end but quite typically in a more than cryptic way via the enigmatic @orca_cute ?!

Allegedly the WS-19 made its maiden flight on an unknown aircraft yesterday.

What does this mean for the ws21, it was meant to be temporary anyway and with the progress on ws19 will it ever goto even on serial production aircrafts.
With unconfirmed reports over Jeff fleet moving onto ws13e in phases , can ws21 be also a viable option if it's actually just a updated ws13 design.

WS13 makes no sense for the JF17 to re-engine to, as it is basically the same specs as the RD-93. If the fleets needs to be re-engined, it is either the RD-93MA or the WS-19/21 as the logical path for upgrade.

The standard ws13 actually doesn't make much sense, but I'm not talking about it:
WS-13(86Kn) ---> WS-13E/IPE(100Kn)
RD-93(84.4Kn) ---> RD-93MA(91Kn)

There is possibility of WS-21 being further improvement of WS-13E but no solid evidence. If true and it has actual worthwhile improvements like in servicelife than that can be viable too.

But thinking WS-19 is even a possibility is illogical and just absurd tbh, it's China's best engine alongside Ws-15 don't think they'll just hand it over if you ask nicely, it was designed solely for 5th gen j35/31 so maybe if paf operates large number of that type then MAYBE they let you put them on jf17 too and engines aren't as plug and play as you think even if they are from the same country, major modifications might require and who's gonna pay for IT??? And after all that for the current airframe it's pretty overkill, it shall only suit it if jf17 block4 evolves into a larger fighter like the super hornet or Gripen E/F.

You also have to factor in performance alone doesn't dictate such decisions pretty soon PAF will operate nearly 180 jf17s, then there are the exports can Russia supply all the required spare parts and engines reliably? Stocks don't last forever and will Customers even want to deal with Russian engines? Does Paf wants to be dependent on 2 countries for critical components instead of 1?

I believe fleet wide adoption of a new Chinese engine is only a matter of time, It's literally the most logical move. Now it's upto Chinese how much they cooperate and help us get it done as cost-effectively and smoothly. Because I can't think of any other bigger PR move for Chinese aero engines than An airforce completely switching out Russian engines for Chinese one on a platform that forms its backbone.

I think it would be better if we discussed this further in the relevant thread.

The J-31 development has been very slow compared to the J-20. Wonder if they will develop the air force version of this aircraft.

J-31 wasnt selected by PLAN until very late. Although J-31 had its first flight short time after first J-20 model.

Guys … once again: Officially there is NO J-32, only two FC-31 demonstrators, J-XX would mean it is in service and since not even an Air Force version exists, there is also none in service … ergo, NO J-31.

Isn't J-XX is J-35?
