The Danish Ministry of Defence’s Materiel and Procurement Agency (FMI), in collaboration with the Defense Command and Danish Artillery Regiment, has selected Rheinmetall’s Skyranger 30 as the new air defense system for the Danish Army.

The contract was officially signed by Lieutenant General Per Pugholm Olsen, head of FMI, and Oliver Dürr, CEO of Rheinmetall Air Defence, marking a significant milestone in Denmark’s defense modernization efforts.

The Skyranger 30 system features a high-velocity 30mm autocannon, which, together with its missile system, is capable of engaging a range of aerial threats, including aircraft, helicopters, and drones. This system will play a critical role in protecting Denmark’s military units, command posts, and combat elements in operational areas.

The integration of this advanced air defense system is an essential component in making the Danish Army’s brigade fully operational.

In addition to the Skyranger’s turret and cannon, the air defense system will also include radar, an operations center, and communication systems. The Danish company Terma will be responsible for integrating these elements into a comprehensive air defense solution, ensuring the system’s effectiveness in the field.

The new air defense system is designed to protect military units during operations, and it will be capable of functioning as part of a layered air defense network. This allows it to coordinate seamlessly with other air defense systems, ensuring full operational flexibility and integration with NATO forces.
