Unfortunately my initial assessment looks increasingly like to be correct.
Israel killed him because he refused to abandon Gaza.
This action just shows that Israel has no strategy or plan. They are literally making this up as they go along. The replacement will be even more hard-core and even less likely to be "agreeable". Nasrallah was probably the moderate part of that organisation as it was.
Israel is good at one thing, and one thing only. Killing - killing and more killing, but it is not serving them well as a strategy.
