This is a great news our dearest neighbor and iron brother Bangladesh can now import onion from India especially when Eid is nearing.....

Price we pay to keep Hasina's reign peaceful.
Yes but someone like @UKBengali will still come up with new stories and try to show how Bangladesh is doing favor to India buying onions from us....

Nope, as this is India keeping its largest(and importantly fastest) growing customer happy.

If BD does not get reliable supplies of Indian onions then it would import from elsewhere in the neighbourhood, even at slightly higher prices.

Did not I say he will never accept the reality..... and slightly high prices??
India is just next door even if you import from Pakistan or other country sea freight will make it way too costly..... onion is like a lifeline in south asia food..... so poor people must be able to afford it.....

In that case, if India becomes an unreliable supplier of fresh onions, BD government will just subsidise the price of onions imported from elsewhere.

Like I say BD is the largest market for fresh onions and also the fastest growing as well. India for its own self-interest does not want to throw this away.

You should be greatful India gave you the exemption from onion export ban but you are thankless as usual.....

Its ok, throw em a bone every now and then.

Even according to the article you shared BD produce approximately 96% of its annual onion demand. What do you think we are gonna die out if don't get rest 4%?

Do you know the size of onions that grow in Bangladesh??
Your soil can give you mini onions not large onions like other south Asia soils...... do you seriously want me to prove this?

There is a reason Bangladesh wants Indian onion..... Bangladesh is a wet marshy land not suitable for fully healthy onion....... so your 96% onion is not even worth domestic consumption forget export....

Article states, Bangladesh annual demand is 2.5 million tonnes.

But BD only import around 0.1 mt of onion.

If it is still going over your head, let me break it down for you.

-It means, Bangladesh import only 4/5% of its total demand.
Hence according to your last sentence, if the domestic production (96%) was not worth domestic consumption, then Bangladesh would have imported a lot more than 0.1 mt (4%) of onion given our total demand is 2.5 mt.

India favour bangladesh in other food export also. For example, low priced rice export, while national policy of India is to export Basmati rice only to other countries.....

Bangladesh does fall in category of Burma -sri lanka whome india gave enough interest Free debt and other benefits like this news.

While we haven't put Bangladesh in category of Nepal -Bhutan as these 2 countries have open border policy for india. And It's less likely also 🕳️

Good day bengali Babu's
How you people see my last#13 ? We find "Guard of Honour" received by Bangladeshi PM in India put Bangladesh at least in category of Burma - Sri Lanka, who are our trained spies.

New Delhi mainly praise Burma, which now behave like a 'state' on need for New Delhi. The Sri Lanka has traditionally been our state in need, if needed. Im told, because of "on ground" link with China, the Burma is our favourable spy than Sri Lanka.....

India now offer Adhar card, the Bhumi Putra card to Bangladeshi citizens. The daughter of then PM Sheikh Hasina, residing in Delhi, attended PM ceremony of Mr Modi, recently, with a Adhar card holder person, as part of family member of then Bangladeshi PM.

We find, we have moved a distance. 🕳️
