I dont know if its relevant to ask here, but with the assassination of Sayyed Razi Mousavi by an air strike, I wonder why Iran are not using SAMS to protect their personel and equipment. Israel seems to be operating with impunity and keeps inflicting big losses.

There are no Iranian systems in Syria and Russia never fires, what there is are S-200 and kub, no loitering ammunition or Iranian LORAD and SHORAD,IRGC advises Syria. When i say "no", this is according to OSINT and satellite imagery. Reminder IRGCQF is in Syria and respects its sovereignty and choices , this is not like they are in Iran.

Also the numbers that Israel claims such as 40 deaths in a strike, if we count it all it would surpass the tens of thousands death from Israeli strikes in Syria which is unrealistic. But who knows its been 5 years since they downed an F-16, the reality on the ground is way more complex than some imagine.

As the Iranians and Russians are helping Bashar Alsads regime stay in power, I would have thought they would not have any issues stationing some batteries in Damascus and other strategic locations.

Maybe they are afraid of repercussions and the Russians dont want to be drawn into conflict? hard to say for sure.

Hard to establish multi-layered A2/AD systems in Syria, Israel is known to pre-emptively strike AD launchers as soon as they land in Syria. Real issue is Israeli intelligence over every Iranian asset in Syria, although it's not possible to hide the transfer of large AD systems, especially by plane.

compare the launchers with this and you see how easily israel can overwhelm them if we want to ship them there by small number
