Islamabad Talks - News & Discussions

I know it was reported that both Saudi Arabia and Qatar would deposit $5 billion dollars after the UAE repayment, but I've not seen any news that Qatar has actually deposited any amount to date.
Qataris are snakes like Iranians , don't expect anything good coming out of there.... UAE with all her crap is at least straightforward.

Who do you suggest should've gone to deliever a message? Considering no one wants a skilled negotiator/diplomat taking part in negotiations and only carriers/messangers. Select few are pulling strings in background using their couriers. Trump has its errand boys since oman talks, Khonenai had its messangers which the new one retained it. Asim Muneer has Shahbaz and Ishaq dar who did manage to convince Saudi/Turkey/Egypt to side with them and kickstart negotiations and Naqvi as an errand boy now due to Shia angle.
At this point, as the situation is on the ground, Naqvi might be the appropriate person indeed.

But the comment was on the larger question, as to how and why he is here in the first place and how do you ensure that there's a system of checks and balances on a person doing dealings on the country's behalf.

UAE Zionists started barking too. They didnt question if Netanyahu can be trusted after they embarrased UAE so badly, but have a nerve to Question Pakistan.

Iran's proposal to US calls for sanctions lifting and funds release, deputy foreign minister says

Iran’s recent proposal to the United States calls for the lifting of sanctions on Tehran, the release of Iranian frozen funds and an end to the marine blockade on the country, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said, according to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, Reuters reports.

The proposal also includes ending the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, the exit of US forces from areas close to Iran and damages to cover destruction caused by the war, Gharibabadi said.

Trump says 'very positive development' in Iran talks

US President Donald Trump has touted a “very positive development” in talks with Iran, which convinced him to postpone a planned military attack on the Islamic republic, AFP reports.

Trump said allies in the Middle East told him “they are getting very close to making a deal” that would leave Iran without nuclear weapons.

“It’s a very positive development, but we’ll see whether or not it amounts to anything,” Trump said during a White House event.

I would "like" to think that the Qatari's, Saudi's said "no" to the use of their terrority for new attacks on Iran.

I know I am being very naive on this.

Why is the Interior Minister making the trip rather than someone affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?

Relative of Asim Muneer. Pakistan is family run business these days unfortunately.

Why is the Interior Minister making the trip rather than someone affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?

Pakistan has been a 'security state' since its foundation and Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is perhaps one of the most powerful civilian officials in Pakistan and works closely with the real power, which is the military. When General Munir went to the 'private lunch' with Trump in 2025, Munir only took the Interior Minister and the ISI Chief. But only Munir and the ISI Chief attended the lunch while Mr. Naqvi was not presented at the lunch. I believe there was a broad understanding between Trump and Munir about the US-Pakistan relationships though the details are very much hidden--even in the American media.

I am confident some of the information from the lunch was shared with Mr. Naqvi.
Naqvi deals with all kind of security matters in Pakistan, especially about the terrorist groups operating in Pakistan's border regions. Important in this case is Baluchistan, which, of course borders Iran. So Naqvi going to Iran is basically just 1 or 2 hops to the most powerful person in Pakistan: General Munir.

Iran’s recent proposal to the United States calls for the lifting of sanctions on Tehran

This alone is a game changer for Pakistan and the benefits to rival the remittances from the millions of Pakistani expats in the GCC countries. One of the biggest issues Pakistan faces is the very high costs of energy to run the industry; the business community is begging the govt to (somehow) lower the energy costs and the rest the business community will take care of on their own.
Pakistan's diplomacy in this war is to not lose the remittance $$ from the GCC Arab countries and to remove sanctions on Iran. And if Pakistan succeeds in that then sky is the limit for Pakistan.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi travelled to Tehran for meetings with senior Iranian officials, Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing informed diplomatic sources in Islamabad.

According to the report, Naqvi departed for Tehran to hold talks with officials of Iran.

The visit marks Naqvi’s second trip to Iran in less than a week.

During his previous visit to Tehran in recent days, Naqvi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

Naqvi spent nearly 90 minutes in a private meeting with the Iranian president at the Presidential Administration, with his total visit to the complex lasting around three hours.

Iranian state media said Tehran's latest peace proposal involves ending hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, the exit of US forces from areas close to Iran, and reparations for destruction caused by the US-Israeli attacks.

Tehran also sought the lifting of sanctions, release of frozen funds and an end to the US marine blockade, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi as cited by IRNA news agency.

The terms as described in the Iranian reports appeared little changed from Iran's previous offer, which Trump rejected last week as "garbage."
