Many people in some part of Northeast China see Siberian tigers regularly, luckily now everyone drives, no human-tiger conflicts so far.

A siberian tiger lost its way on the highway in northeast China
The tiger first tries to jump off of the highway bridge and finds it's too high, and it decides to find a better location to escape the highway
The driver behind the tiger follows the tiger and shines the light for the tiger to see the road along the way

I remember reading some years ago about a successful Tiger breeding project in China.

Also read some stuff about some of them being farmed for traditional medicine etc.

What's going on with your Tiger program, @Beijingwalker ?

Tiger parts trade is strictly illegal which can result in decades of prison terms. It's true that China has the world largest tiger breeding center in Heilongjiang province which currently has around 1,000 tigers.

World's largest breeding center for Siberian tigers welcomes 63 cubs

ok, and are they going to be rehabilitated in the wild ? Some, I presume, will make their ways to Zoos and wildlife sanctuaries... the rest ?

I hope they are being repopulated and released back in the true wild.

and of course its illegal, many things around the world are illegal and strictly punishable by law, such as drugs etc.. but those things still thrive.

Tragic incident happened a couple of days ago, a class A protected species, SiberianTiger, eats another class A protected species, a Siberian leopard in NE. China.

Netizens on the Chinese social media suggest the culprit Siberian tiger should serve life term in prison for killing a class A protected animal based on the Chinese law.

When has threat of incarceration, or even death or disease ever stopped people from throwing caution to the wind for sake of some sort of personal gain ?

There probably is an underground market for illicit sales of tiger "products" ..

Happens everywhere, in India with sandalwood, for example, and tigers. In Africa with Rhino horns and Elephant ivory.

Japan poaches whales, not sure about the legal status of that but conservation groups have been upset for a while.

Crocodiles etc get hunted for their leather.

Some endangered and illegal to hunt, some not entirely illegal everywhere.. depends where on earth you are.

In Africa the authorities sometimes have to cull elephants, with a high calibre hunting rifle, from the safety of a helicopter.

World's a big place.

Chinese law enforcement is way stricter than most countries. No one can expect to break a law and get away with it.
