'Ladakh Stand Off Led India to Call Out China as No. 1 Threat': General Naravane​

The former Army chief has been vocal about his opinions on China. Meanwhile, his memoir – purportedly with revelations on the 2020 stand off – is 'awaiting clearance' from the Union ministries of defence and external affairs.

New Delhi: Former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane has once again spoken of the India-China stand off in eastern Ladakh, calling the situation “not a bad thing” and something that led India to call China out as its “number one threat.”

The Tribune has reported that the former Army chief said that the stand off “worked out well for India because now we are more focused on where the threat actually lies”. He also spoke on how India has always referred to China with the help of euphemism – implying that the truth was ignored.

General Naravane was chief of the army when tensions flared between the two countries in 2020. Resulting clashes led to the death of 20 Indian soldiers and at least four Chinese soldiers. Talks of disengagement are still on, but are yet to see much success.

The general has been vocal about his opinions on China. Meanwhile, his memoir, Four Stars of Destiny, which was earlier set to be released on January 15, is “awaiting clearance” from the Union ministries of defence and external affairs, The Wire has reported.

According to The Hindu, the book has details the “behind-the-scenes events” at the height of the stand-off with China.

Among other things, he has also reportedly detailed how he was handed a “hot potato” in dealing with Chinese troop movement.

You are aware that India already rules Southern Tibet, right? Why would we boom our guns at a place we already administer and is part of the country?

In case you aren't aware: What China calls "Southern Tibet" and claims to be part of China, is in fact ruled by India, and is an Indian state called Arunachal Pradesh, and proudly flies the Indian flag:

It is China that should "boom" its guns at Arunachal Pradesh and wrest it from India, instead of simply claiming it.
