FAAZ-2 LR-BVR AAM R&D Project finally disclosed by GIDS. Earlier they integrated and
tested its earlier version FAAZ-I on JF-17 which never went into production,
as it was not compatible with modern missiles like PL-15 & Meteor.

PAKISTAN's GIDS displays FAAZ BVR air to air missiles at #IDEF2023.Major thing will be FAAZ-2 with 180km range and dual pulse rocket motor engine. But here we've two versions oof FAAZ-1 with 100km range. Looks like GIDS may follow the pattern of MICA missile.FAAZ BVR Missile will have two guidance oriented versions:- Radar Guided FAAZ BVR missile- FAAZ BVR missile with Infrared Imaging seeker

why Taimoor has 290 km range, i mean it is may be for export version. what about PAF use?

for Faaz series do we have any information of them under trial with PAF?

The missile has to be 'fast' in the initial phase, and 'nimble' in the terminal phase to catch a highly maneuverable prey. Can a missile be made in such a manner that, it 'jettisons' its phases like a space rocket over the course of flight and 'becomes' a highly agile, off -boresight missile at the terminal phase?? 🤔🤔

Can any1 inform what happened to RA'AD Air launch cruise missile?

technically the Meteor does this sort of. Its a two stage missile, a SRM to get it up to speed until the ramjet kicks in.

Look like FAAZ and FAAZ 2 are inspired by Russian R-27 and MICA BVR
no, i explaiuned this on old PDF, its more likely just FAAZ with an IR Seeker.

Remember, FAAZ is just an exercise, its easier to develop an IR missile when you have the missile to use already, now all you need to do is modify the guidance/control. I wouldnt look at this as a serious effort, rather, just a study, what comes of this study will be the serious effort

It is not an "exercise" - PAF has been desperate to get a long range BVR with terminal guidiance by an IR seeker - they have tried many times to get the Mica IR missile, only to be turned down by France, and now they have their own missile homegrown.

Yes - it is easier to develop a missile with an IR seeker, but this is capability that the PAF wants for sure.

no they have not. The reason PAF pursued the MICA option was because nobody else other than Denel/Kentron had any offerings, and due to france supplying the radar set via the RDY-4, the Mica was the option to go for.

FAAZ is purely a learning exercise- its clear its a SD-10 built at home. Same specifications, same dimensions, same control surface configuration, we dont know whats internally different but im sure theres some tweaks- on the FAAZ-IR it is nothing more than FAAZ EM with an IIR seeker, why, because the easiest way of developing an IR guided missile is to take your already existing missile and change the seeker configuration/guidance. FAAZ is an exercise- FAAZ 2 will be the actual product if it goes anywhere. The PAF never has, nor will it ever seek out the soviet doctrine of launching multiple types missiles at a single target to complicate countermeasures, because its cheaper to just launch two better missiles than 3/4 not as great ones. The PAF has always trained with NATO, trained BY NATO and always deployed NATO tactics and means of operation, thats not going to change. There is no benefit to this means of doing things.

Bruh , those clickbait videos are 5 years old, and I dont think it involves any Pakistan "developed" BVR missile.

Has there been any captive trials , let alone hot / launch trial.

I remember back in the 90s there was some attempt to produce reverse engineered Magic IR missile.
