I miss the positive and negative ratings personally. Maybe, they can be brought back and only allowed to give for think tank members rather than all of the title holders?

The ratings generally helped filter out quality posts in the midst of soo any posts. They also helped hide posts that were violating forum rules or were distasteful/low quality.

The more you make this forum like the old one, the more likely it will end up being the same in its outcomes.

A firm no.

Probably the most abused feature in LOF.

By think tanks whose ability to think tanked a long time ago, if ever present, but who have (had) a multitude of axes to grind.

Cheers, Doc

In my personal opinion,

I am not a huge fan of it anymore. It was a good feature couple of years ago but now the reactions feature is streamlined with these likes buttons which we already have

You guys can decide about the future of it. If it comes back again, then more work for Admins to go back into the database and restore positive and negative counts for everyone :geek:

No good feature is used as intended. As George Carlin quipped, "never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups". :D

I really didn't like the +/- system, it was ripe for abuse. On the other hand, many users simply didn't care, and continued trolling despite the negative ratings. The Chinese members were especially guilty of this with their -30, -40, -50...etc ratings.

There should be a better system. For example, bring back titles, but give them powers to make super-reports to be reviewed by mods first over regular user reports. As titled members are more trusted, it would make sense that their reports would carry more weight, and a super-report system would reflect that.

And/or

Give titled members an easier way to get mods involved in case there's trouble. In the previous forum, I sometimes felt I was being ignored, as did a number of other titled members. This is likely because mods were probably overwhelmed. Giving titled members a way to get mods involved would also give mods an idea of what to prioritize.

My feeble unfelt apologies for pissing all over the carefully curated reputations of ex TTs here.

Just a matter of time before you can restart the grinding wheel.

Cheers, Doc

Sirs,

Respectfully, this system should not be reintroduced. Instead there should be an "up-voting" / "Down Voting" system if possible or even feasible given the forum software. That would be a far better system implemented, one which every member has some sense of agency to highlight both low quality and high quality posts.

Just my opinion.

I actually wanted to suggest that as well and wanted that to replace the five reactions currently but then thought about posts having negative or sad info e.g bomb blasts etc. I can't think upvote or downvote would represent the right emotions/reactions.

This feature was there on the old forum but I think it was reserved only for TTC's. Sent the reported post to moderation que, it hid the post too until moderation. @Hyde , is this feature available here? Maybe we can give this power to the title holders.

It is available, but it was useful before we had a more organized "Reaction" system. We currently have options like... like, love, angry, and others integrated into it, and it's ready to use without needing external resources.

The current reaction system has replaced the positive and negative rating system, but PDF hasn't removed it. Instead, it's kept for an exclusive club to prevent individuals from losing their rating count, in my opinion.
