Ideally, that’s how it should work in any well-functioning democracy/society. But we are far from that, it’s a chaotic structure enforced by a military junta, where submission to their will is the norm. By design, they are deliberately alienating the general public esp. the youth, eroding their faith in democracy and its institutions. In an autocratic society and tyrannical regime like ours, the standards of democracy you speak of are difficult, if not impossible, to uphold.
