South Africa was once banned from international cricket by the ICC for 21 years from 1970 to 1991 as it's government was considered illegitimate by the global community. It's govt was controlled by a handful of people who ruled illegitimately over the masses.
Now that majority of Pakistanis believe that an illegitimate govt. has been imposed upon them by electoral fraud, would it be wise to highlight the plight of Pakistanis in front of the global community by fighting for a sports ban against Pakistan? Pakistan is expected to host ICC Champions Trophy next year. If the govt were to lose the hosting rights, it would be a major embarrassment for Sharif govt.
Should overseas Pakistanis protest against Pak at the ICC? Would the ICC take any action? Will the action have any impact, within and outside Pakistan? Would boycotting the Champions Trophy help raise awareness against the federal govt.? May be in the long term this pressue may result in Imran Khan being released from prison.
