One of the sad effects of progress is that the old ways that have endured for centuries finally get abandoned as newer generations start to look elsewhere for other options, naturally. Whether this is real progress, or not, is perhaps debatable, but this change seems to be a global phenomenon as well.

I think mass tourism does this, but this sort of cultural history of China interests me greatly coming from a hunting family myself, I am very keen to visit this beautiful place some day.
