they don't, the Iraqi Parliament voted to expel them in 2020. The US (under Trump) refused
and meanwhile, Trump keeps telling Americans that he will "end the wars"- what a lie. he authorized the firing of 52 cruise missiles into Syria and here you're confirming that he authorized the continuation of the Iraq war by not ending the US military's illegal presence in Iraq. the Average American isnt as sharp as they need to be to manage the brand of Neo-Zazi govt we currently have (sadly).
and threatened 'sanctions like you have never seen them before'.
I think US sanctions have weakened in potency because US's economic power and leverage in the world has obviously weakened- US and NATO put the most sanctions on any country on earth on Russia recently, but Russia got over at least 80% of the impact of the sanctions within 2 years- US economic sanctions is like a toothless tiger these days!

this is the US military's diplomatic way of admitting the resistance forces have hit them "surprisingly hard". Actions speak louder than words.

Until it happens, it is worthless talk.

About time. The loss of Iraq is a big loss for the US. Keep in mind Iraq is the birth place of Sumer, en sabah nur, the first civilization. It also opens the path for Iraq to join Egypt in BRICS.

Kurdish wants US presence, because Kurd will face the heat from both Iran and Turkey once US leave. Or US remain in Kurdish region.

Iraq will become strong again in coming decades.
