This is very huge news but undersnowed by recent conflicts in the MENA region.

Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan have a great defence industry and with finance from Qatar, the sky is the limit.

Pakistan, Qatar, Turkiye and Indonesia sign 'Badr' defence cooperation pact

Pakistan, Qatar, Turkiye and Indonesia on Wednesday signed a multilateral pact to promote cooperation in defence production and capabilities, the Turkish defence ministry said.

The Foreign Office has yet to comment on the signing of the defence pact.

According to the Turkish ministry, the signing took place in Qatar, with ministers of the four countries attending the ceremony. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who was visible in pictures shared by the ministry, signed on behalf of Pakistan.

Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman, and Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Defence Yusuf Jauhari were the other signatories. Haluk Görgün, who heads Turkiye’s Secretariat of Defence Industries, was also present on the occasion.

Reuters quoted the Turkish ministry as saying that the pact, titled ‘Badr Memorandum of Understanding’, was aimed at defence cooperation and strengthening defensive capabilities.

The ministry said the accord would also support military exercises and training, cooperation on research and development, and contribute to joint efforts to improve the countries’ respective defence industries.

Meanwhile, Turkiye-based Anadolu Agency quoted the ministry as saying that the MoU would help develop solutions and industrial sectors aligned with advances in modern defence systems.

Pakistan has strong brotherly and historic ties with the three countries, with intense diplomatic engagement seen in recent months with Qatar and Turkiye particularly.

Pakistan and Turkiye, along with Saudi Arabia, are members of the Makkah Defence Alliance, under which they are to treat an attack against any of them as an attack against all.

Qatar had welcomed that pact as cooperation aimed at regional security and stability.

What do you make of this?
Similar to the Makkah Pact without the Saudis?

Doesn't seem like it, this is more of a defence industry cooperation agreement, not a real defence pact like the Mecca agreement. But still good news to bring those countries closer together and start cooperating with each other on defence matters.

This has no mutual defense clause. It is focused on defense cooperation and production. A good step in any case iA. Leverage Turkish, Indonesian, Pakistani industrial base, get injection of investment through Qatar and potentially others who may join later.

It's vital we start working together

Join funding for multiple military projects
Whilst we become buyers ensuring project success
It also means in wartime we have sources for equipment and weapons that we are experienced with

The Muslim world is MASSIVE
We need to start securing it
And that stats with major Muslim powers working together and then extending that partnership to smaller countries

We need to make things that failed in the past, work for the future against mutual enemies

I won't get excited unless we hear some rumors or actual news of Qatari's investments in Pakistan or other members weapon industry, we are just hearing pacts/deals but not much investments.

Another "bone for thought" for the Bharati media! Their subject matters to produce fake news and analysis vis-a-vis Pak is growing by each passing day. It means more viewership and more buck$...

Someone like Ghazi52 found a functioning typewriter in Ministry of Defence and probably has a similar copy paste fetish.

It must take some interactive application to converse with Indonesians. I cannot imagine anyone even Ghazi104 bot surviving it.
