Whatever said and done, missiles shouldn’t have failed to destroy the targets. This event is supposed to be a showcase event in a controlled environment where all steps can be taken to achieve a very high rate of success.

Poor planning and even poorer execution by those involved in the event.

Armed forces around the world train all year around to hone their skills and synchronise their ability with their equipment. Thus these firepower exhibitions are held to show and prove to the public the capabilities achieved in their respective fields. Keeping in mind the saying, "Boards don't hit back", alas these manoeuvres are executed without any danger to the forces involved. There are several videos showing either poor execution by the pilots or a negative outcome of the delivery or firing of the ordnance. Suffice say the whole show was rather disappointing.

While the Indian Air Force boasts the latest military hardware adorned with all the bells and whistles, it is essential to acknowledge that the true asset for any armed forces lies in the men and women behind the machines. Despite having access to advanced weaponry, the IAF has consistently faltered due to a lack of proper training and professionalism among its personnel.

Time and time again, instances of poor performance have surfaced, revealing glaring inadequacies in readiness and execution resulting in public humiliation. However, what the IAF lacks in competence, it often compensates for with an unparalleled sense of hubris, sabre rattling and chest thumping. This overconfidence, coupled with a media narrative that often glosses over shortcomings and embellishes reality, creates a misleading perception of the Indian Armed Force's capabilities.

I often feel this way about Indian Air defence systems, the Indians often chest beat about Akash or some other Indian system and you think to yourself, well how good or tested are these systems that Indians seem to think they have become invulnerable

R-73 missile (Fired from Tejas fighter and SAMAR ground based system) failed to detonate.

There are reports of Griffin LGB failing but it is contested. It hit the target but we do not know if it exploded or not.

I don’t think execution may be the issue but someone in logistics and maintenance needs to be given a dressing down - and a hard look taken at conditions of weapons stocks.

Duds aren’t something that doesn’t happen these days but the frequency is what matters.

If it was an inert version it should not have exploded .

There was a CAG report a few years back that ripped the serviceability of IAF’s missile stock apart and placed the blame on lack of following procedures and a “pass the buck” attitude.

This was a live fire exercise... MICA did... so.... I guess, its a question of fuse on R-73. Its toublesome that R-73 is being used in both A2A and short range SAM role role.

Good thing is that India is moving from R-73 to ASRAAM with local production. Thats a much better European missile.

I guess old stock of R-73 will form second line of defense in SAM role.

Oh and for bomb, I do not know what happened. It was a live fire exercise. It was an Israeli kit on a russian bomb.

@arsalan345 Remember, we were talking on that IAF "flexing" thread? Well this is what I meant. Indian forces have been chronically neglected and will require 100 billion dollars of additional funds per year for another 10 years on top of what India spends to make it an attacking and winning force.
