This is the moment when Air Marshall (R) Shahid Latif was sent to Sweden to evaluate the SAAB Grippen for the Pakistan AirForce. The evaluation took place to seek an alternative for the F-16s, further sale of which was until then withheld to Pakistan.
Reportedly the Grippen didn't meet PAF's requirements.

Reportedly the Grippen didn't meet PAF's requirements.

I had heard that Grippen was so complicated technology that time and PAF actually rejected it saying we can't handle this much technically advanced fighter..... Grippen even today with Meteor and stormshadows can be a nightmare for any airforce.......

Get your facts right before pressing the reply button, the above was said to nicely say no to Eurofighter Typhoon which was offered to Pakistan but at the time was having issues with its voice command system.

Grippen is too costly. PAF does not have the funds.

So to justify their cheap Chinese knock-offs they're bringing in India into the title.

Simple case of sour grapes!!
Let me feed you those sour grapes,
Always read and comprehend what the text says ...Grippen wasn't exactly evaluated last week but long before the evaluation of call centres in India.

Each Grippen is 80 Million USD. The IMF loan Pak PM is begging for is 700 Million, less than 9 Grippen worth!!!!

Don't dream beyond your means
We are rich enough to accept strays on our forums, they get kicked out and come back begging to be allowed here again
So they could have a voice
znd you're talking about it NOWWW

Because it is important to put down European fighters such as Rafael, Eurofighter, Grippen and promote the cheap Chinese knockoffs as they're the only ones PAF can afford right now.
Let me school you on the cheap Chinese knock offs
MiG-19 or F-6 was Chinese made, had American sidewinder missiles, the Pakistani pilot sat on a British Martin Baker ejection seat, it had some French gadgets in it but when it shot down the MiG-21, the only thing said was Pakistani aircraft shot down an Indian jet.

Dude... there is a time and place for everything.....

Take a look at ourselves and the thread title... and then ponder..... is it the correct time for this to be shared.

These threads do nothing but make us look silly.... nothing more...

Windy, two decades on PDF have made you forget that IAF's MMRCA competition in the year 2008 where five leading fighter aircrafts including Gripen-saab thoroughly evaluated and finally the French Rafale got selected in 2010 by the IAF technical committee as the winner of the process.

You should just amuse yourself with cartoons.
However as for topic, PAF evaluated the Grippen in late 90s.
Here ends the lesson.

The thing that seperates the Gripen from other fighters is its low operational cost aswell as how easy it is to maintain. Saab has developed mobile maintanence packages which can be deployed along long stretches of road. It is basically a camouflaged tent with all the necessary equipment to operate the aircraft. Would fit Pakistan’s needs.

The best thing is that the Gripen fighter is small enough to land on roads for refuelling and reaming:). A very attractive option for PAF. Indian Airforce evaluation on this fighter was very different to Pakistanis . Not all planes fit into one size.

LOL! Taking a joyride isn't called evaluation.
During MMRCA, aircrafts in the race were stationed in India for several months.

I had watched 2 videos , 1 from paf airchief Rao qamar saying operating cost of jft is 1/3 of contemporaries and another from gripen which said the same for gripen . Suffice to say most 4rth gen single engine light fighters would fall in this category of low operating cost

While PAF was going to Sweden to buy AWACS, IAF was building it's own.
