The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, a cricket tournament for the eight top-ranked One Day International (ODI) men's national teams organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

It is becoming clear that Pakistan will not be able to host Champions Trophy, just like Asia Cup. If PCB were to host it, India would not participate and without India all countries participating would suffer immense financial loss as their revenue share would drop. If the same is recovered from PCB, it would not be in a financial condition to do so. Many board like West Indies, South Africa etc are desperately waiting for Champions Trophy to bring in more revenue.

One option is for PCB to refuse hosting the tournament but it seems highly unlikely considering their previous stance during Asia Cup.

Only other option is to play a "hybrid" tournament like Asia Cup where Pakistan play their league matches on home soil and rest of the tournament is played on other venues. In Asia Cup, Sri Lanka played the real host, hosting 11 crucial matches whereas Pak saw only 4 inconsequential league matches.

Bangladesh's name has surfaced again and again as a potential host for the Champion's Trophy. It becomes clearer everyday that Pakistan can neither refuse to host the tournament, nor conduct the tournament by itself Bangladesh seems like an excellent option. The weather during Feb-Mar in Dhaka and Chittagong is perfect for cricket and security is no issue at all. Bangladesh is the safest country in South Asia.

While BD has not hosted many major cricket events, being a football playing country is has been hosting various football friendlies involving top players and teams from around the world.

ICC should not allow any cricketing event to be held in Pak till World Cup Winner Imran Khan is in prison.

He was the only World Cup winning Capt missing from the last world cup as he was in prison. Pakistani cricket fans should also boycott cricket in Pakistan till Imran is free.

Don't worry Pakistani mil-jamedars' hindutva bosses won't let it host any ICC events in the first place...

If even a few matches are hosted in Pakistan and see large public turn-out it'll be a huge blow for Imran Khan in particular. People need to boycott all cricket related events.

Pakistanis should support shifting Champions Trophy out of Pak.

Champions Trophy 2025 is eagerly anticipated by cricket enthusiasts worldwide, with Pakistan initially set to host the prestigious tournament. However, uncertainties loom, and cricket boards of other nations are considering the possibility of stepping in as hosts if Pakistan faces challenges. In this article, we explore three potential hosts for the Champions Trophy 2025 and delve into the implications of such a scenario.

Potential Hosts of ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

Table of Contents

1. Bangladesh – A Cricketing Enthusiast’s Haven

Bangladesh, a nation passionate about cricket, has been on the sidelines in terms of hosting major tournaments in recent years. The last significant event on Bangladeshi soil was the 2016 Asia Cup. However, Champions Trophy 2025 could be the perfect opportunity for Bangladesh to showcase its love for the game by stepping up as the host country. If Pakistan’s plans falter, Bangladesh might eagerly seize the chance to bring the tournament to its cricket-hungry fans.

2. United Arab Emirates (UAE) – The Neutral Playground

The United Arab Emirates has emerged as a favored neutral venue for cricket tournaments. Recent instances include the relocation of the 2018 Asia Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup, initially slated for India. If Pakistan encounters challenges in organizing the Champions Trophy, the UAE could be a strong contender. Its well-equipped facilities and experience in hosting international events make it a reliable option for cricket boards looking to ensure the smooth execution of the tournament.

3. Saudi Arabia – A Rising Cricket Destination

Saudi Arabia, though relatively new to the international cricket scene, has expressed interest in hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. If circumstances prevent Pakistan from hosting, Saudi Arabia could step in, showcasing its growing enthusiasm for the sport. Hosting such a prestigious tournament would mark a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia, and the event could serve as a potential revenue source for Pakistan if successfully executed.

Implications and Considerations:

The potential shift in the host country from Pakistan to one of these alternatives raises several implications and considerations:

1. Financial Impact

The financial impact on the host nation is substantial. The Champions Trophy brings in revenue from various streams, including ticket sales, sponsorships, and broadcasting rights. If a new host country takes the reins, it could mean a redistribution of economic benefits within the cricketing landscape.

2. Cricket Diplomacy

The choice of the host nation involves diplomatic considerations. Cricket boards must navigate geopolitical factors and bilateral relations when deciding on a new venue. The Champions Trophy, being a globally watched event, brings a spotlight that goes beyond the boundaries of the cricket field.

3. Fan Engagement

Cricket is not just a sport; it’s a source of joy for millions of fans. Shifting the venue could impact fan engagement, especially for the host nation. The atmosphere, local support, and the cricketing culture add unique flavors to the tournament, and any change might alter these dynamics.

Bangladesh also does not have any security issues like Pakistan. The teams and players would be very safe if the trophy is held in Bangladesh.

Do you have enough stadium capacity and accommodation?

Bangladesh has hosted some big football teams. Cricket is hosted in football stadiums here.

There are plenty of top class hotels as well. There is no security risk either. No terrorist attacks, no political party threatening to burn down buildings and block roads.

Players and fans can roam around freely.

I wasn't talking about one stadium, you know CT is a big event, par with World Cup, so people will be coming from all over the world to watch, and stadiums require 40-50k capacity, at multiple venues and all that. I wasn't talking about availability of hotels though, I'm sure there will be star hotels.
