Exactly why armoured vehicles should not be limited to just VVIPs but the troops protecting them too

Vehicle belonging to DC Kech post Vbied attack.

The b5 rating saved his life. Invest in armoured vehicles for our troops.
Mraps are needed, majority of soldiers are killed in IED attacks, it also seems the DC got lucky the VBIED didn't hit the cabin.

@Toxic

That would certainly save a lot of lives and is a no brainer. Budget maybe an issue though.

Well it depends, Americans have thousands of Mraps sitting in storage, they have been selling them for pretty cheap to whoever wants them, I imagine we can get a lot of them for a reasonable sum

Well it depends on how much explosives the VBIED is carrying
Yes yes that too, it depends on a host of things. I have seen a armrourgroup B5 in peshawar post attack with the engine block blown out the passenger cabin was unscathed.

Again it depends on a host of thing. Regardless these things are needed in Pakistan for security forces. I remember when mohafiz II was released the plate used was designed to defeat 7.62 ball but not explosives due to the welding and under plate shielding.

For a vehicle to be rated B5 the cabin MUST be isolated from the engine block and trunk. This includes rebuilding of the cabin from the ground up including footwell, under shield, isolation of fuel tank with isolator and kevlar lining on the fuel lines.

I visited a factory in Islamabad that used to retrofit LCs for government clients. Very cool stuff how they tested the plates.

Ideally it requires a multi pronged approach, but just like a plate carrier will give you a "second chance" by protecting your torso, you can still take a stray shot to the femoral artery which is equally fatal.

Said it a couple of weeks ago they will never listen and have no intention of stopping the TTP. The TTP is now a valuable part of their offensive setup to pressure Pakistan.
Time to create buffer and no go zones.

They actually have, perhaps up to a thousand but IMO it's a pretty shitty stophap
Yes frankly the stock hilux chassis and suspension cannot sustain the load from plating. Like you said, its a stop gap, nothing more.

HIT needs to come up with a budget friendly solution for force protection and Counter-IED that is not MohafizII.

Don't know if true, but been hearing rumors from contacts in Pakistan that behind the scenes, the civilian political leadership in Pakistan seems to be a lot more ready and willing to go to war than the Army which is apparently trying to reign in expectations.

There's serious consideration that if the Talibs don't take action, Pakistan may take far more drastic actions along the border, such as building a permanent 300 meter kill zone.

Again, this is what I've been told.

No evidence of it, but my contact worked as a junior Intel officer a while back.

I think that is spot on.
The army can ill afford such a war with India breathing like a spent horny horse on the border. It's best to use resources to make the border air tight and use massive surveillance and firepower to enforce it.

Don't expect anything from HIT, they got that TOT deal for that Thai MRAP a while back inducted a few units and then have heard nothing since no photos or anything that indicate that it's in mass production.
