Following the efforts led by Saudi Crown Prince #Mohammed_bin_Salman, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announces the removal of the name of Syrian President "Ahmed al-Sharaa" and Interior Minister "Anas Khattab" from the list of sanctioned persons and entities, in a step that reflects the effectiveness of Saudi diplomatic efforts on the regional and international stage.
American newspaper "Semafor Gulf":The Kingdom of #SaudiArabia and Syria are holding talks to establish a massive data cable network named "SilkLink," to connect the Gulf to Europe, in a step that reflects Riyadh's ambition to enhance its position as a global hub for artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.The project is estimated to cost around 500 million dollars, and aims to bypass the recurring disruptions in Red Sea cables by creating an alternative route that passes through Syrian territories to the Mediterranean Sea. Saudi Telecom Company "STC" leads the list of candidate companies for the project, alongside alliances from other Arab countries.This initiative comes as part of a broader Saudi strategy to transform data into "the new oil," as the Kingdom has signed agreements with major technology companies such as Nvidia, Qualcomm, and AWS, with the aim of enhancing supercomputing capabilities and connecting data centers globally.

I fail to see the hypocrisy here. Syria was always gonna become a NATO extension because the Russians and Iranians fought him to the bitter end why would he join hands with these who wished harm upon him.
He joined hands with these who stood with him in time of hardship like Turkey, UK, Ukraine and NATO

Is there a single leader in the Muslim world/Arab world, other than monarchies, where the leaders have not had a bloody/controversial past before gaining power?
The previous Al-Assad regime came to power through bloody means, coup, mass-murder etc. Did not prevent the USSR (which itself was one of the worst regimes in modern history in terms of crimes) and others from aligning with them.
There are no "clean sides" in civil wars.
Also the US/West has a long history of such people being supported if it suits their geopolitical interests. Similarly they fight/combat Islamists elsewhere when deemed a threat to their interests. They don't care about politics, just like Russia/China does not. Nobody really does at the end of the day when it is not about your own country.
Al-Sharaa went to Iraq to fight the American occupiers. Later he returned to his native country when the civil war began to fight against the Al-Assad regime.
Politics was never a place for logic. Some of the dirtiest people in the world are actively involved in politics everywhere.
It is just a power game and geopolitics.
The new Syria has no choice but to ally with the West, which frankly, long-term, is also in the interests of Syria and Syrians. Unless they want to take the path of Iran, North Korea etc.
Syria, after almost 15 years of bloody civil war, cannot afford more wars, conflicts etc. They have to get their house in order first. West is the only realistic economic and political partner that can help rebuild it. Not to mention that it is in the interest of the West to have a stable Syria given the many Syrian refugees who left for Europe/West. Hardly any Syrians went to China or Russia (LOL) other than Bashar himself and his close family members and allies.
Many European countries want to send Syrians back to Syria as well.
Lastly, Arabs never had a problem with the US (3.5 million Arab-Americans live in the US - half of the Arab world is allied with the US) other than its foreign policy in the region (some of it) and that is due to Jewish/Zionist influence.

I don't know the background of Al-Sharaa in detail and what he was doing of crimes (I don't think that anyone really knows) but I don't find his resistance against the US in Iraq to be a problem or his fight against the Al-Assad regime. The problem is if he was directly involved in killing innocents or he himself did it. But frankly speaking, which leader can claim to not be partially responsible for such a thing in this part of the world, even more so during a bloody civil war?
So far, I don't see any extremism from his part. In fact I am surprised that there have not been more of vigilance towards the Nusayris/Alawites.
Christians and other minorities are doing fine and not attacked and free to do what they did under Al-Assad.
The problems with SDF was there under Al-Assad (it began during his tenure). The internal Druze "civil war" is mostly the work of Israel (al-Hijri).
It is good for the Arab world AND the West that this new Syria is moving in the direction of the US, EU etc. Good for everyone involved as that will hopefully mean that powerful brokers have a stake in Syria being a successful and stable country long-term.
Al-Sharaa will not rule forever anyway and the priority of Syria should be to rebuild. They are not interested in any new wars or adventures hence their outreach to the US/West and even Israel.
Problem here is again Israeli opportunism/land grab, trying to create several "Syrias" by supporting Druze and Kurdish separatists etc.
They (Israel) are not interested in any strong and stable Arab neighbors and they don't care who rules, Islamists, secularists, Arab nationalists, monarchies, dictatorships, "democracies" etc.

BTW, this is self-evident and I have talked about this a few times already but all of this mess (Syrian Civil War) could have been avoided if Bashar was not a fool (much like Gaddafi) and did reforms and political concessions. This way those civil wars on the back of the so-called "Arab Spring" could have prevented the mess and fragmentation of Syria in the first place.
Pre-2011, Bashar/Al-Assad regime even had friendly/cordial/cooperative (despite differences) with the Arab monarchies.
I remember that Bashar was the guest of honor when KAUST was inaugurated during King Abdullah's rule.
With another "old friend" Ali Abdullah Salah.

Hafiz/Syria took the side of KSA and rest of the Arab world (outside of Saleh in Yemen) when Iraq stupidly invaded Kuwait and Syrian troops took part in Desert Storm alongside KSA troops.
Civil wars don't just occur out of the blue and usually occur in weak/unstable regimes and countries.
When did the last civil war occur in Russia, USA, China, France, UK, Germany, Japan etc.?
The Al-Assad regime was not much different from the Iraqi Ba'athi regime or Gaddafi's Libya. All outdated, economically incompetent, isolated from the world at large, personality cult, cared very little about the well-being of the common man and completely inefficient. They were always bound to collapse.
Anyway I hope for the best for Syria, always, regardless of who is in power and the Arab world needs a stable and prosperous Syria to succeed in the present and future.
