At this rate we need another year to deport all. The good news is that this will reduce population of Pakistan by 5-6 million. It will also mean surplus of wheat etc in Pakistan as borders will remain closed. All that extra production can be exported outside to earn $$. As trade with Afghanistan was in rupees.

The Punjab government has launched a large-scale crackdown on Afghan nationals living or working in the province without legal documentation, and this time, the campaign includes a financial incentive for informants.

Officials say the operation targets Afghans residing in the province without valid papers, those running businesses unlawfully, and individuals found using forged Pakistani identity cards (CNICs). The drive also extends to landlords and shopkeepers who rent out homes or commercial spaces to Afghan citizens lacking legal residency.

Authorities further clarified that Afghan nationals engaging in business activities while holding only tourist or medical visas will also face action. To encourage public cooperation, the government has introduced a reward of Rs. 10,000 for each verified tip-off about undocumented Afghan residents or illegal business operations.

According to sources, the Punjab police have implemented this reward system to ensure the campaign’s effectiveness. Police officials have guaranteed that the identity of anyone providing information will remain confidential. The Inspector General of Police has also instructed all Station House Officers (SHOs) to immediately release the prize money to citizens whose reports lead to action.

Punjab Police have urged residents to support the operation and have assured them of swift follow-up on all credible information.

Recent statistics show a significant rise in arrests of Afghan nationals across Pakistan, an increase of nearly 150 percent since early November. In the past few days alone, authorities detained 7,764 Afghans, with the highest numbers of arrests occurring in Chaghi, Attock, and Quetta.

During the same period, departures and deportations surged to 37,448 individuals. Officials noted that 47 percent of those returning had Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, while 44 percent had no documents at all. Overall, 93 percent of those deported were found to be living in Pakistan without lawful status.

Rawalpindi police have arrested 76 Afghan nationals living illegally in the city during extensive search operations launched after the recent suicide attack outside the judicial complex in Islamabad. The crackdown comes amid tighter enforcement of the National Action Plan.

According to police, the operations were carried out on the instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani across multiple neighbourhoods in Rawalpindi.

During the searches, police inspected 1,375 houses, 412 shops and 28 hotels, and verified the identification documents of more than 1,709 individuals. The detainees included Afghan nationals found residing in Pakistan without legal documentation.

Police teams also checked four scrap yards, three bus and truck stands, and several locations to verify tenant records. Authorities registered 21 cases against individuals who failed to file mandatory tenant information.

Search operations were conducted in Kallar Syedan, Rawat, Gujar Khan, Chontra, Dhamial, Kahuta, Jatli, Saddar Bairuni, Pirwadhai, Ratta Amral, Ganjmandi, City, Waris Khan, Banni, New Town, Sadiqabad, Saddar Wah, Naseerabad, Civil Lines, Morgah and Cantt.

Officials said the purpose of the operations was to strengthen security and curb criminal activity in the district.

CPO Khalid Hamdani said Rawalpindi police were using all available resources to maintain peace and stability in the city. “Such measures will continue in the future as part of our efforts to ensure law and order,” he added.

Last week, at least 12 people were martyred and more than 36 others injured in a suicide bombing outside the District Judicial Complex in G-11 area of Islamabad.

The explosion occurred when suicide attacker tried to enter the court premises but detonated explosives near a police vehicle after being intercepted. The blast ripped through the area, causing panic among bystanders and heavy damage to vehicles nearby.

According to police sources the bomber’s head was found on the road, and forensic teams were called to the scene for evidence collection. Initial investigations suggest the attacker’s target was the court complex, intending to inflict mass casualties, but alert security personnel prevented his entry.

The repatriation numbers need to go up manifold. We should be talking in the magnitude of tens of thousands.

Afghans are proud people, warrior race and now Afghanistan has become more prosper than United States of America, they defeated super powers, I don't see any reasons for these superior Afghans to live or stay in backward, under-develop Pakistan, I mean soon Afghanistan will have flying cars and Billions of Indian investments, and we know India is a Galactic hyper power with no rivals. I hope all Afghans go back to their promised land where rivers of milk and honey runs.

‘Afghans no longer our guests’: interior minister vows full repatriation

BR Web Desk
December 1, 2025

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday said the government was making every station house officer (SHO) of police responsible to arrest and repatriate the Afghan nationals living illegally within their jurisdiction.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, the interior minister stated that “Afghans were our guests, but they are not our guests anymore.”

Slamming the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for failing to take decisive measures to repatriate Afghan nationals, he affirmed that Afghan nationals across the country would be sent back under all circumstances. He requested the Afghan citizens to respectfully return themselves.

Naqvi said that the three individuals who attacked the Frontier Corps a few days ago all turned out to be Afghans. He added that the attacker in the Islamabad Kachehri (court complex) was also an Afghan citizen, indicating that Afghans are involved in most of the attacks occurring in the country.

He said that the repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals across the country was underway. “We have to send back illegal Afghan refugees under all circumstances,” he stressed.

Minister Naqvi warned illegal Afghan refugees that if anyone was deported and returned, they would be arrested and punished. He also said that Afghan camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were being shut down.

“We clearly know who is behind the terrorism and who is orchestrating it,” he stated, demanding the Afghan Taliban government to rein in the terrorists.

Naqvi pointed out that illegal Afghan nationals were being expelled from all three provinces, but they were being provided protection in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He asserted that politics was acceptable, but when it came to national security, no province could operate by creating its own policy.

He warned: “It cannot happen that you do whatever you want on the matter of national security. This will neither work nor will it be allowed.”

On media and fake news, the interior minister stated that 90 percent of the news on social media was incorrect. He emphasised that arbitrary publishing on social media cannot be allowed, and there would be a crackdown on false news.

He noted that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) issued notices for false reporting on national media. He said those spreading false news were not journalists, and while freedom of expression existed, spreading fake news cannot be permitted.

Naqvi warned that they would not allow the humiliation of anyone on social media and that there would be no compromise on national security matters. He criticised those making baseless claims from abroad about institutional issues, stating, “If you have evidence, then definitely bring it forward.”

“I tell the people sitting outside that you will be coming back very soon. We will bring you here very soon, and you will have to answer for everything.”

In response to a question, the interior minister said that an amendment was made in the Constitution, under which a new institution was being created. He said that work did not happen with the press of a single button; the system took time to build.
