Russians were like: "You have nothing to worry about, the S-400 is a defence weapon,Greece has no reason to worry about the sale to Turkey" etc.

Then they were pissed off about the possibility of Greece donating the S-300s to Ukraine after the war started.

But i think, they are not fully wrong. They are having a war right now, so those systems will be used against Russian Aviation.

In Greek case, in order to be targetted by S-400 systems, Greece needs to attack Turkey with Aviation so that Turkish S-400s would target them. Turkey being on the defensive.

What if Turkey attacks and iniates a war, Greece responds with retaliotary strikes and gets targetted by S-400. So, Greece would be targetted while fighting a defensive war.

So, Greece also have a point. But with this logic, nobody should sell anything to both Greece and Turkey.

It's this kind of Russian mentality....the last 3 years. You have Pskov preaching to world about Russia's war and then he still hasn't sent his son to the front. Even after the prank call that went public, calling him to enlist and he was replying "my father will take care of it". I thought maybe at that point,Pskov will have the decency to sent his son to fight after that. But apparently,Moscow's oligarchs don't really care about saving face to the public anymore.

So you have Putin go around giving weapons to both sides(Armenia,Azerbaijan for example or African countries etc)and then getting angry when Russian weapons are used against him with the same arguments.

Russia isn't doing conscription, its just paying a lot of money of money to people to enlist. Putin cannot afford to conscript, b/c it will cause a lot of domestic issues. Its easier to get african, indian and even north korean soldiers than to conscript. And if they were forced to conscript, they would conscript prisoners first.

They trick them easily into becoming kontraktniki. They did "conscript" prisoners. They integrated them in Wagner and/or other units by the thousands, promising reduced sentences or freedom after their term was over. Yes they signed contracts, but it's more or less a conscription.

Larijani is probably the third most important politician in Iran after Khamenei and Ghalibaf. Fidan also met Pezeshkian and I think Ghalibaf too.

This is for the foreign policy thread. This thread is more for random fun usually unserious stories.

3 Turkish police officers killed and 9 injured during raid on ISIS safe house south of Istanbul. 6 ISIS terrorists were also killed in the raid.

A raid on a suspected safe house for the terrorist group Islamic State set off a clash that killed the police officers as well as six Turkish militants.

Last week, the Istanbul chief prosecutor’s office said the authorities had detained 115 suspected ISIS members who were planning attacks targeting non-Muslims during Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

Mr. Yerlikaya said the raid in Yalova was one of more than 100 operations against the group on Monday across 15 Turkish provinces.

When the police approached the house, the militants opened fire, he said. The security forces evacuated five women and six children from the house and cordoned off the area, cutting off supplies of natural gas and electricity.

In addition to the three police killed, nine security officers were injured, he said. The militants killed were all Turkish.

Video aired by the broadcaster NTV showed a two-story building with its upper floor charred. Neighbors told the channel that what appeared to be a large family with women and children had lived in the house and that they did not engage much with neighbors.

Yilmaz Tunc, the justice minister, wrote on social media that prosecutors were investigating the case and that five suspects had been detained.

RIP to the police officers.
