Yara, they are able to improve macro economic indicators. Getting it to improve the micro economic level takes time. But it normally follows if nothing unusual happens.

TBH, the mess Pak state got itself in was huge. The mafias were stronger than the state machinery. At the core was the Afghani mafia that spread its tentacles across the whole society.

I believe no Pak establishment of the past could take on these monstrous mafias (for whatever the reasons). The current establishment has taken on these mafias. Just stabilizing the dollar in Pakistan for past three years is no less of an achievement.

With the end/suspension of Afghan transit trade (and closure of Pak-Afghan border) will result in drying death of many of these mafias. Let's hope the trend continues.
