A story I've been told often enough.... might be true... probably is.

Changaiz Khan once captured a city all thanks to a traitor.

When he came before the Great Khan for his reward, Changaiz ordered his execution instead.

"But why???"... he sobbed.

Changaiz said, "To betray is in your nature. Tomorrow, if you are in the mood, you'll betray us too. Can't have you around...."

USA needs to think like Changaiz Khan. These Afghans worked for a foreign force against their own people. When the mood strikes them, they will betray you too.

This is likely a myth rather than truth. Mongols would always offer surrender to a city before attacking. If the city surrendered, either via its ruler or some other agent, it would be spared from destruction as long as they paid tax and remained loyal to the Mongols. Else the Mongols would kill every man woman and child in the city.

If you have ever read a history of how the British conquered the subcontinent, it was entirely based on finding local collaborators and traitors and promising them riches and satrapy. Once the British defeated the opponent and appointed their collaborators the new satraps, they remained ever loyal. In fact one could say they are loyal to this day.

This Afghan could have been suffering from the same mental health and guilt problems that plague many American veterans, who go to war based on promises of defending freedom and democracy but then come back disillusioned from the horrors they witness and participate in during the war.

The Afghans who were in the CIA affiliated Zero Units certainly could have these issues.

Patel said agents seized "numerous electronic devices," including smartphones, iPads, and laptops, all of which are now being analyzed.

When a reporter asked how the Afghan national was able to enter the country during the Biden-Harris years, Patel replied: "When the prior administration made the decision to allow thousands of people in without doing a single background check or vetting, that's how you miss every single sign."
