We cannot completely lump it all up in one go. After all, the civillian dictator Bhutto is credit with both jump starting the atomic program but also destroying Pakistan's economy through naturalization and its social fabric through the quota system and so on. He eventually appointed Zia ul Haq as well who finally put the last dirt on the coffin on Jinnah's Pakistan.

But, within those times you also had good men quietly straddle the line between being "yes sirs" and being "GSDs" - getting shit done.
So long as Pakistan keeps producing good men(and women) like that - things will keep just above the water. Remember that despite the Mullah's purge, many of IRIAF's pilots still stayed for their country and performed above and beyond, dont count the PAF out yet nor is the situation that bad(yet).

If the society and values degrade further and it reflects into institutions - then yes, you can imagine airplanes falling left and right while Fizaya colonies keep growing in golf courses.

Indeed, an MoU is typically not a legally binding agreement or the finalization of a deal. It generally outlines the intentions and preliminary terms agreed upon by both the buyer and the seller. We do not know — or at least I don’t — the specific terms contained in this MoU, so it’s difficult to comment on its conditions. However, it is certainly being presented as a step that could lead to a formal agreement.

It'll probably come to fruition, and we'll likely see a few more JF-17 sales too. The reality today is that the world security environment is very murky, and, at some level, every country understands it needs to maintain a measure of airpower capability, either to keep neighbours at bay or (ironically) support current US policy to take much greater ownership of their regional security affairs. In other words, countries can't live with the idea that 'appealing to the UN or international community' will lead to a cessation of hostilities.

There are many capable officers who can take the mantle and provide continuity.

The move would have gone a long way in elevating respect for himself and the institution he represents.

What is the motivation behind giving these extensions?
So that the civilian dispensation can also enjoy their tenures.
When is the next general elections? 2028?

Next election is probably on April 2029.

If no further extension happens then:
Both Naval and Air Cheif will retire on 2028.
FM Asim Munir will retire on 2030.

Every thing is planned
