I need stability in my country where i would not need to think twice before going out, and people with opposing views can express their opinion freely.........something which is totally absent in the country right now.

Some of my childhood friends are Pakistani. Know them since I arrived in USA in 90s. we used to hangout like a gang in school defense against Kalia people. They used to bully Immigrant kids in school those days but stay away from us the Halal boys. Lol

We used to make joke on them in Urdu all the times. Man, I missed those days.

মহান বিজয় দিবসের ছুটি কাটিয়ে গতকাল বুধবার সকালে কাজে যোগ দিতে কারখানায় এসেছিলেন শ্রমিকরা। এসে দেখেন প্রধান ফটকে কারখানা স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধের নোটিশ টানানো। এক নোটিশেই বেকার হয়ে পড়েন ৩৫০ শ্রমিক। কোনো কিছু না জানিয়ে এভাবে রুটি-রোজগারের পথ বন্ধ করে দেওয়ায় হতভম্ব হয়ে পড়েন তারা।
হঠাৎ স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধ করে দেওয়া মুকুল নিটওয়্যার লিমিটেড নামের কারখানা গাজীপুর মহানগরের কোনাবাড়ীর নীলনগর এলাকায় অবস্থিত। কারখানার মূল ফটকে ‘স্থায়ীভাবে কারখানা বন্ধ প্রসঙ্গে’ শীর্ষক নোটিশে বলা হয়, ‘দীর্ঘদিন যাবৎ ক্রয়াদেশ (অর্ডার) সংকট, উৎপাদন ব্যয় বৃদ্ধি এবং আর্থিক সক্ষমতার মারাত্মক ঘাটতির কারণে কারখানার স্বাভাবিক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করা অসম্ভব হয়ে পড়েছে। উক্ত পরিস্থিতিতে বাংলাদেশ শ্রম আইন ২০০৬ (সংশোধিত)-এর ধারা ২৮ক এবং বাংলাদেশ শ্রমবিধি ২০১৫-এর বিধি ৩২ অনুসারে কারখানাটি ১৭ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৫ হতে স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধ ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।’ এতে আরও বলা হয়, ‘সংশ্লিষ্ট আইন ও বিধি অনুযায়ী আলোচনা সাপেক্ষে শ্রমিক-কর্মচারীদের যাবতীয় পাওনাদি পরিশোধের ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হবে।’

কারখানার সামনে আব্দুল লতিফ নামে এক শ্রমিক জানান, হঠাৎ কারখানা বন্ধ ঘোষণার খবরে আমরা দিশেহারা হয়ে পড়েছি। এখন চাইলেই কি অন্য কারখানায় চাকরি নেওয়া যাবে? আমরা কোথায় যাব! রুম ভাড়া, দোকানের বকেয়া, ছেলেমেয়ের স্কুলের বেতন কীভাবে পরিশোধ করব? অন্ধকার দেখছি চারদিকে। আলেয়া বেগম নামে এক শ্রমিক বলেন, সোমবারও আমরা ডিউটি করেছি। মঙ্গলবার বিজয় দিবসের বন্ধ ছিল। আজ (গতকাল) এসে দেখি, কারখানা স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধ। কারখানার কোয়ালিটি পরিদর্শক সাগর আলী বলেন, কর্তৃপক্ষ যদি কারখানা চালাতে না পারে, বন্ধ তো করবেই। তবে শ্রম আইন অনুযায়ী আমাদের পাওনা পরিশোধ করলেই হলো।
শ্রমিকরা জানান, আগে কখনোই তাদের বেতন ভাতায় ঝামেলা হয়নি। প্রতি মাসেই নিয়মিত বেতন পেয়েছেন। সমস্যা থাকলেও এভাবে স্থায়ী বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হবে তা বুঝতে পারেননি তারা।
শ্রমিক লাভলী বেগম বলেন, আমাদের ঘর সংসার, জীবিকা তো এই কারখানার ওপর নির্ভরশীল ছিল। আমরা এখন কোথায় যাব। হঠাৎ করে আমাদের এভাবে পথে বসিয়ে দিল।
রায়হান কবির নামের এক শ্রমিক বলেন, অনেক দিন ধরে এখানে কাজ করছি। হঠাৎ চাকরি চলে যাওয়ায় মনে হচ্ছে জীবন থেমে গেছে। এখন কী করব, সংসার চালাব কেমনে, কিছুই বুঝে উঠতে পারছি না।
শ্রমিক আব্দুল আজিজ বলেন, আশা করি কর্তৃপক্ষ আমাদের পাওনা দ্রুত পরিশোধ করবে। তিনি জানান, শ্রমিকদের এখন মূল দাবি– শ্রম আইন অনুযায়ী যেন তাদের সব পাওনা পরিশোধ করা হয়। শ্রমিকদের কেউ কেউ বলেন, সরকার দায়িত্ব নিয়ে যদি কারখানাটা আবার চালু রাখার ব্যবস্থা করে তাহলে সাড়ে তিনশ শ্রমিক বেকারত্বের হাত থেকে রক্ষা পেতো।
মুকুল নিটওয়্যার লিমিটেডের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক মো. মইদুল ইসলাম মুকুল তাঁর কারখানা স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধের জন্য কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন অধিদপ্তরের উপ-মহাপরিচালকের কাছে আবেদনও করেছেন। এতে বলা হয়, কারখানাটি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে পোশাক রপ্তানির সঙ্গে জড়িত থাকলেও সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে বৈশ্বিক অর্থনৈতিক মন্দা, ক্রয়াদেশ সংকট, উৎপাদন ব্যয় বৃদ্ধি ও আর্থিক সক্ষমতার মারাত্মক ঘাটতির কারণে কারখানার স্বাভাবিক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করা অসম্ভব হয়ে পড়েছে। যার কারণে কারখানাটি স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধ ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। এ পরিস্থিতিতে প্রতিষ্ঠানের উৎপাদন কার্যক্রম চালু রাখা সম্ভব নয় বিধায় বাংলাদেশ শ্রম আইন ২০০৬ (সংশোধিত)-এর ধারা ২৮ক এবং বাংলাদেশ শ্রমবিধি ২০১৫-এর বিধি ৩২ অনুসারে কারখানাটি বুধবার থেকে স্থায়ীভাবে বন্ধ ঘোষণা করার সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। বিধি অনুযায়ী আলোচনা সাপেক্ষে শ্রমিক-কর্মচারীর পাওনা পরিশোধের ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হবে।
এ বিষয়ে জানতে প্রতিষ্ঠানটির ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক মইদুল ইসলাম মুকুলের মোবাইল ফোনে একাধিকবার কল করলেও তিনি রিসিভ করেননি।
গাজীপুর শিল্প পুলিশ-২ এর সুপার মোহাম্মদ আমজাদ হোসেন বলেন, কারখানাটি বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়েছে। আইন অনুযায়ী শ্রমিকদের সব পাওনা পরিশোধ করা হচ্ছে কিনা, আমরা দেখব। শ্রমিকদের স্বার্থে যেন আঘাত না লাগে, সেটা আমরা দেখছি।​
