This really needs a thread of its own. After more digging around by journalists and smaller news agencies it has been established that the father is an Indian national and his son is of mixed parentage Indian/Italian.

Now a few things we need too take note of us as Pakistanis;

1. The narrative built on social media that the attackers were Pakistani. Hundreds of thousands of Indian social media accounts on X, TikTok, Instagram went into overdrive mode, putting out information that the attackers were Pakistani, and also heaped on even more muck e.g. Pakistan produces terrorists and nothing else. Afghan nationalists accounts, although far fewer abetted this narrative.

Our social media accounts need to combat this and although we have the numbers to match up, we are still not as coordinated as the Indian nationalist accounts. We need to organise better.

2. The acceptance of Indian nationalist lies as facts. News agencies such as ABC literally have amateurs working for them, and took the narrative from social media as fact. Earlier on if you remember Indian posters here had put up snippets of articles referring to the both attackers being of Pakistani origin, and how the father was from Lahore. If you used AI to find the source of such statements it would always turn up Indian social media accounts.

Pakistanis need to contact such organisations and hold them to account for their poor fact checking.

3. The rational Pakistanis who waited for facts. I must say I am proud of you guys, and fortunately for us we made up the majority. Never give in to the popular narrative and wait for more information. Some of our own people were sending our name to the gallows even when nothing was really known. Look at the Indian media accounts, including their national news organisations, more deflection more denial.

These guys defend their stance to the end. Pakistanis need to have a sense of self respect here.

4. How much the Indian government knew. A number of Pakistani posters pointed out that they found the silence of Indian government, even state channels strange. People discussed how something didn't seem right. It was obvious they knew both attackers were of Indian origin and shows their intelligence is very good. Pakistani government officials couldn't even come out with a response and were left wondering if the dude actually did come from Lahore.

Never underestimate India, they know more than you think.

My opinion.
What India are doing with Pakistan and have been doing since 2010 is exactly the same as Russia is doing to Britain.

Britain is now beginning to understand the game that is being played.

The shooters were accused of being soldiers in the IDF, now they are Indians, which instantly makes it an Indian saazish. Let the conspiracy theories unfold. 🍿
I think the frenzy and foaming at the mouth by Indians when the news broke- speculating that it was Pakistan generated terrorists didnt help. So when it comes out in the wash that they are indian based is a massive irony.
It seems India has a massive issue with extremism my friend - and todays news about your pervy leaders trying to touch a woman - it just gets worse.
I guess a case of sort your shit out before looking into our toilet……

They are proud of their falsehood and ready to defend it till the end ( with more falsehood) while we being on the truth are ashamed of it. When you say counter their narratives and hold them to account shouldn't we be looking for defamation suits and large regulatory fines against the perpetrators. Putting a monetary cost to their mischief, hitting them hard where it hurts them the most and naming and shaming them internationally should be top of the agenda. Making a team of like minded lawyers to spearhead this movement should be the priority.

The lesson is. Do not believe anything on Twitter blindly. Think 100 times before you share something you read online. Whether it's in your favour or against.

sadly some despicable Pakistanis like Moeed Pirzada and company also spread these lies. you can bet whenever there will be any negative news with the opertunity to malign Pakistan, Adil Raja, Moeed Pirzada and cult followers will retweat these fake news.
this is why Indians now openly celebrate that India doesnt need to respond to Pakistan, their own people are doing a great job.

My 2 cents to Musings question about extremism in India.
In nation-building, if we promote violence to solve problems, then extremism rises.

In Pakistan, the perennial military management of certain factions such as religious groups, has significantly contributed to this problem. Organisations such as the IEA, Sunni Tehreek, TLP, MQM, etc actions have been tolerated within the political system.

These groups routinely promote hate speech. In some cases, this rhetoric has translated into lethal actions against minorities and dissenters. Over time, such messaging normalises violence. Thus, citizens begin to believe that killing on accusations of blasphemy or in the name of “honour” is morally or socially justified.

This mindset is further reinforced by weak accountability. Public defence of honour killings by CM Balochistan, the glorification of Mumtaz Qadri, and the frequent impunity enjoyed by perpetrators of blasphemy.

When state institutions fail to respond consistently and decisively, citizens are encouraged to take the law into their own hands. The main issue arises if people practise these things overseas, as they are not trained to fight long legal and media battles. Even our protests are violent. Similarly, our parenting, teaching practices, traffic control, work environment, etc.

Also, this is the pan-South Asia problem. See what Indians have been doing since 2014 around the world. Link this with the following post:

Yes, with the rise of BJP/Hindutva.
Indians in false bravado have created a fuss around the world in press conferences, tourist spots, etc. Their Jaishankar spent western goodwill/attention (bcz India can be pitched against China) by passing rude remarks in press conferences and Q&As. They got so brazen that they have committed/conspired to kill in the US and Canada.
This is what led to extremism, cow vigilante, cursing Muslim rulers in Bollywood (I think the British committed more atrocities), etc
