Babur-Class (MILGEM) Corvette | Updates & Discussion

No gökdeniz on hayber, like babür,I think Pak navy decided something else.Aselsan göksur or roketsan levent missile systems would be nice, these systems have their own aesa radar systems and have automatic detection and firing without needing main sensors of the ship.Thats the way true close defence should work. This ships have 25mm stop system and can be modified to aselsan 25mm atom burst ammos as you wish,so you can choose classic or atom. ammos when required. It will protect airborne threats against ships and some üwhat fulfill gap of the lack of the 35mm gökdeniz airburst system.Unfortunately shipbuilding takes long times and many thing changes, its hard to adopt, and takes money and time also.Pakistan insist camm-ER on jinnah class,so this is a mistake.Roketsan midlas sytem evolving rapidly so you can fire hisar RF with 40km range,siper1 100km range and even atmaca missiles, ofcourse you have to upgrade cenk aesaradar like our istif class. This upgrade on jinnah not that cost too much, but you can get enormous flexibility. For examle if jinnah have 32 cell you can load full atmaca or full siper1 or hisarD and mixing up between them according to mission profile.Nevertheless babür class and jinnah class will be main net centric warfare of the pak navy, and this means more power than ships indivual characteristics.
I agree with your assessment for Goksur over Gokdeniz for Babur. Its 20 missiles and 15km range (vs 9km for HQ-10) will help make up for the low number of CAMM-ER. While Atom Burst Ammo would be ideal for the STOP 25mm guns, i doubt PN can swing for that. That said there is no technical limitation preventing CAMM-ER quad packing in MIDLAS. It is a political and financial issue in which PN will need to approach Turkey/Rocketsan and Italy/Leonardo to integrate the two and pay them to do so but after that, the merger will be superior in range to Hisar RF (G/M-1).

As for Atmaca, PN will likely never use this. Its ability to be fired from the VLS not withstanding, PNs own AShM in Harbah, CM-302 and SMASH far our range Atmaca, and are also able to be utilized in Land attack. In CM-302 and SMASH cases they are far faster than Atmaca as well. Also, unfortunately Jinnah Class for now will only have 16 cells vls, not 32 cells (hopefully they will be MIDLAS and not GWS.26/35). PN would be better served with JCF having 8 SMASH AShMs midship and a MIDLAS VLS up front with 8 cells reserved for quad packed CAMM-ER and the remainder (8 cells) for SIPER. Would give 8 long range SAMs and 32 medi range sams and 20 short range sams (Goksur)

PAKISTAN NAVY BOLSTERS FLEET WITH COMMISSIONING OF 2ND MILGEM SHIP PNS KHAIBAR IN TÜRKIYE

The commissioning ceremony of 2nd Pakistan Navy MILGEM class ship PNS KHAIBAR was held at Istanbul Naval Shipyard, Türkiye. The President of Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf also attended the ceremony.

While addressing on the occasion, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan termed the brotherly relations between Pakistan-Türkiye as exemplary. The President further emphasized the need for enhanced mutual collaboration in the field of defence production in future as well.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf acknowledged the commitment of M/s ASFAT, Istanbul Naval Shipyard and the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) involved in planning, design and construction of PN MILGEM ships. Naval Chief also appreciated the deepening defence partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye. He highlighted that bilateral engagements between Pakistan Navy and Turkish Naval Forces not only contribute immensely towards strengthening Pakistan-Türkiye defence collaboration but also reflect our enduring and deepening partnership.

Following the ceremony, Turkish President visited the ship, where he was presented Guard of Honour and interacted with ship's crew. During the visit Turkish President and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf exchanged views on maritime security in the region and discussed avenues for future PN-TNF joint initiatives.

PN MILGEM ships are the most technologically advanced surface platforms. These vessels are equipped with latest Command and Control Systems integrated with modern weapons and advanced sensors.

The contract for construction of 4 MILGEM class ships for Pakistan was signed between Ministry of Defence Production, Pakistan and M/s ASFAT, Türkiye in 2018, wherein two Ships planned to be constructed at Türkiye and remaining two ships in Pakistan. Commissioning of PNS KHAIBAR marks the completion of construction of both Ships at Türkiye.

Finally the PN is becoming a strong force by global standards.
So these will join the advanced Type 54B's in service. 2 more Babur's to come. We have the F-22's which are ok.

Then work starts on the Jinnah class.

A NICE turnaround from the Navy that would originally be forced to "beg" for used Oliver Hazard Perry class ships to now getting the latest platforms from its friends.

Why aren't we using fixed phased array phases on Jinnah, considering the hypersonic threat?

money money money... these vessels are all compromises in terms of capability to cost.

PN ditched towed array sonar on the 054'a to reduce the cost.
Babur class reduced vls loadout etc

I wish PN removes F22P main gun and installs VLS for AAW role. F22P has very low chance of survival if it gets in a range to use its gun anyways.

Something like this.

I wonder if we can equip some of the Jinnahs with local fixed AESA faces and GIDS LOMADS. If GIDS LOMADS is indeed realistic, PN should consider this.

Pakistan has 4 Type 54As not Bs in service. I would rather buy 4 Type 54Bs than build 6 Jinnah class, they are bigger and powerful, can be turned in to a destroyer.

Ships are designed with their radar configurations in mind. Fixed AESA panels are either integrated in to the mast or the superstructure. I hope that after the initial batch we can build a AAW focused derivative with fixed AESA radars and 32 proper VLS.
