Pakistan International Arlines (PIA) : News / Updates

Let’s take what arif habib said in the video posted by @Meengla as whole truth for a moment. Hear what he is saying. He himself is taking Fauji group as a non-private sector entity. Listen to it, it’s Urdu not Greek.
I understand what he said , there's nothing I can do if you're bent upon spinning it in a different way .

Concrete plans to revive PIA are being put into place. Much of the hurdles for decades were political--mostly from the PPP blackmailing--but those have been neutralized or being neutralizing not just for PIA but also other projects/privatization initiatives coming up.
This forum has largely missed the changes introduced in Pakistan starting with the 26th Amendment, greatly strengthened via the 27th Amendment and structural reforms coming up via the 28th Amendment. The debate here was too much driven by political biases from all sides.

Some plans coming up for PIA in this video but I believe PIA privatization is beyond PIA--much more coming up, including good news for Karachiites' rights.

So him saying “if you are asking private sector you should also put skin in the game.” Clearly drawing distinction between private sector and Fauji group, is a spin on them not really being private sector by me. Ok.

It matters if It catches mice, imprisons Lion and sell zoo tickets while all other animals starve ?

Worked for China and will work for Pakistan. Also, somehow an Afghan expat worrying about Pakistanis 'starvation' is not convincing. You are here just trying to ride a certain political bias bandwagon.
PS. Lions don't wear metal buckets for their protection--look at @hydrabadi_arab profile pic. Hahahahaha!!

Fauji Fertilizer can be a private company or a state company - not both at the same time.

If "Fauj" has majority shareholding then it's a Government company.
Even majority shareholding by the fauj is not required. The army effectively owns a golden share in the company irrespective of actual economic ownership by Fauji Foundation.

Even in a mature western market like the US, the US government has significant control over companies like Lockheed Martin without owning a single share.

@Vapnope

500 billion loss will be paid by the tax payers only.

Well, I have a consolation prize for you. When India privatised AI, it took over INR 450 billion or PKR 1.35 trillion worth of liabilities which are now being serviced by Indian taxpayers.

Regards
Govts all over the world protect elites' interests. Too bad that we belong to the common populace.

One side question, how are other public departments/businesses quality wise?

Remarkable thing is that this 70+ year old businessman with no background in airline industry has so much ideas and knowledge at his finger tips. He speaks cautiously and compassionately even about those leeching employees milking the PIA.

There's no unfair advantage , FFC was established when there was shortage of fertiliser and private sector was not coming forward to invest.....I agree with rest of your post.
You do know Mari gas for FFC is at a different rate than what Engro gets right? The metering skids for both are right next to each other, or at least were when I was in my heyday :P.

This was the running joke in the whole plant.

Just one example of 'no unfair advantage'.

But again tell me how Fauji group is vying for the same pie in the same market conditions. Come on man, itna to buddhu mat banaya karo hamain ab.

According to Arif Habib, Pakistani businessmen were encouraged by the military to invest in PIA, so its not sold to foreign buyers. The Pakistani buyers then requested the Fauji Foundation to also invest in PIA.

I think he will turn things around, especially with Fouji Foundation being part of the ownership. Currently PIA has 18 planes and 12 are on lease. Absolutely crazy. And the governments successfully failed to deliver PIA success, wether incompetence or by design. The end point is they failed to revise it.
