It was also the only jet in the PAF fleet capable of such. The F-7s and F-6s were day point interceptors at best with the Mirages still in between upgrades of which only the Bandits had some night interception capability.
So all those F-16 PAF had for over 2 decades by then were just primitive and were shiny loud jets which could not even fly at night?
Looking at the fact the USA is only giving Pakistan Link 16 now in 2026 , after 45 years pf PAF using the Block 15s , i wont be surprised.

Wow.......in just about 20 years.....gone from struggling with intercepts at night to full day night all weather coverage today where we can look even into enemy territory and shoot down their jets within their own airspace.

Technology indeed has come a long way.

PAF F16 shot down soviet SU25 at night. One of the reason why PAF bought F16s was because of day and night fighting capability. During 80s and 90s, dogfights was primary air to air engagement and BVR was still maturing specially in this region. If you flew low to the ground you could fool enemy's radar into not locking you from long range so yes PAF developed tactics around WVR doctrine.

Yes, 90s and early 2000s were depressing times for PAF. Production of JF-17 and arrival of Block-52s at the end of 2000s along with AWACS put PAF on modernization trajectory. Still remember how lack of BVR and Pressler amendments cost us in Kargil war.

True... all other aircraft gave day ADA duties only... though this scenario changed completely by next escalation in 2008 with ROSE I Mirages and limited night role of F-7 PG...

Im so confused
Help me understand your thought process to take me saying F-16s were the only night capable to you concluding they could not fly at night
